It could always be worse, you could have to push a 300lb dirt bike/motorcycle 8.75 miles(in a foot of snow) down a mountain back to the trail head.....

I'll deal with only horses and mules for now on. If they break down you shoot them and the Bears, wolves and yotes will have it cleaned up by the next day...

Working on a 3rd season hunt. I've got some major dead lines at work that have to be knocked out first though.

Just got back from the panhandle yesterday chasing goats and elk. Let's just say I've eaten 4 tags this year. I'm actually looking forward to shelving the Ol' struggle stick this year and picking up the boom stick. Have I told you how much I hate those goats!!!

I think I just about have everything ready for packing the truck on tuesday after shaving my head bald. Just have to decide on if Im going to bring the single cot or the coleman queen air cot.

Those air mattresses can get quite cold unless they have some insulated padding on them or you are sleeping on top of additional layers that you won't notice the cold air trapped inside it.

The cold im not to worried about being that Ill have a wood stove in the tent with me, the joys of a 14x16 wall tent from davis tent, that should keep it a decent temp, plus a 0 degree sleeping bag with liner.

Puts some rocks in the corner and poor some water on them when you get back to camp and I bet you could have a sauna with that setup. Lol. Your body will thank you later I am sure.

5 Days. Im leaving DFW after work on wednesday. The weather is looking good so far for the hunt. I hope you guys have some warm clothing/sleeping bags for at night as it looks like it will be below freezing everyday.

Finally got my new rifle to group. Realized that the one piece base they sent me was for the wrong model of gun and couldn't keep it tight. Changed to another base and started banging steel out to 800 yards. Plan on leaving Granbury around 4 am Wednesday and head to Cortez, then get tags Thursday morning and head to our base camp. Good luck to all heading out next week and safe travels.

Well it is official that I am not going. I have been hoping and praying that I could work something out at the last minute. Sitting at my desk in Israel right now and will be here for 2-6 weeks. I am really going to miss the hunt. Good luck to all.
