this was my 2005 bobcat I got while deer hunting in a tower stand. My lease is in Buffalo, Texas (1/2 way between Dallas and Houston on I-45) and I wasn't calling for bobcats, but I was very pleased to find her! She's not the biggest, but she's my first one!

see picture...

What do you do with them. Do you eat the cat or what?

I've never heard of eating bobcats....but to each his own. I am getting her mounted for a wall mount in the position she was in when she met my .243 100 gr. bullet.

Just so you will know, before the peanut gallery gets started, Bobcat is edible, if a person can get past the fact that it is a cat. Same thing with Mountain Lion, Oh Yes, there will also be the Black Mountain Lion (Panther) discussions involved here also.

Bobcat tastes really good if fixed right, eating them and liking it is a matter of personal choice.

Only if it isn't over cooked, but we haven't established whether they are black after skinning or not.

No. I won't eat anything, but I will eat stuff that a lot of folks wouldn't, simply because of how they think about it. Indians ate coyotes, and I have talked about trying it but just can't get past the smell and the fact its a dog. Same thing with fox. I will eat raccoon, but definetly not possum or skunk. I have never eaten armadillo, although the meat does look good and a lot of folks do eat them. I like Javelina, and have gotten a lot of folks to try it. While they might not fall in love with it, they have in most cases found out that the stuff actaully does taste good, it just has to be cooked right.

There is also a lot of stuff, actually a fairly long list of stuff I won't eat that most folks I know, just love to eat.

Menudo, Tripe, Liver of any kind, are the top ones.

I can't remember the whole joke, but there was one about and old feller that always told folks every time they asked about how certain game tasted when cooked, that it tasted just like chicken.

Well one time some enterprising person took some fried chicken out to the old boys place, and offered him a piece of it. He took a bite chewed on it a second, then spit it out and went to coughing and gagging, claimed they were trying to poison him, then asked what that horrible stuff was.

They just looked at him and said "Chicken".

Seen way too many folks in my life time that claim that something ain't fit to eat, but they will admit they never tried it, it was just the thought of it that turned their stomachs.
