Even in 95-100 degree heat is it still possible to keep the hog meat from spoiling as long as I dress the animal quickly and have ice ready to put it in? Will the heat increase the risk of diseases?

It shouldn't matter how hot it is as long as you don't let the hog hang.

Like you said...gut it, skin it, and quarter it quickly. Then get it on ice. You'll be fine. No different than any other time of the year as long as you work quickly.

I shot my first the middle of July and it was a boar over 350 lbs.,(broke my hanging scale) skinned, field-dressed and quartered and iced. No problem...

The meat will be just fine as long as it is cooled in a timely manner. Skin them quick. I shot a few last year, threw them in the back of the truck (with ice) and had a whole truck-bed full of ticks by the time I got home.

Fellas, thanks for the advise. I hope to get out hunting soon. I have a few more days of painting remaining on my house and I'll be done. I hope to get it done before the love bugs arrive. If not they become part of the house.
