I am wanting to try one out but it seems like theyre all discontinued all over the net. Was it because they werent worth a damn? I did find a Pulsar 1.5x mag doubler that looks like it might work? ( https://www.amazon.com/Pulsar-Magnification-Doubler-Riflescope-Accessory/dp/B00I59Z21A ). Can anyone confirm this, or point me to a doubler that does work on the Photon XT?

Same boat as you are in. I found one over in England for $180 on eBay but did not but it.

The problem that I've heard is they change the POI. If the doubler isn't screwed on exactly like it was when sighting in, even if it's bumped while walking around, there have been documented instances of shifted POI.
If you need the extra magnification I'd just go with the 6.5x model.

I spend way too much time on the net searching and reading today but I think it paid off. I found some good info to pass on to you Photon XT guys dealing with the fuzziness or lack of focus when using an external IR torch at greater distances. All you have to do is push inward and pop out the little plug on the lense cap where the peep hole is and close the cap back up over the lense. The opening is about 22mm which allows the perfect amount of light in enabling a much better focus.
I took it out back a few minutes ago and was able to make out objects almost perfectly at about 150 paces.
Give it a try if you too are having focus issues. Not to worry, the plug goes right back in for daytime use.

With regards to POI shift when using a doubler, yes there is a change, but once you re-zero, if you leave the doubler in place, you shouldn't see any further shifting. I've got two doublers (for my 5X Photon and 4.6 XT) and they hold zero just fine. They thread onto the Photon and have a locking ring. It's a very solid attachment.

{George which doubler did you use?} Glocker - I got mine from UNV (Ultimate Night Vision), years ago. I think it's the Yukon 1.7X lens. UNV had a coupler in their kit that mated the doubler to the Photon.

The doubler works great you do have to rezero the photon. Just save the orig zero in case you ever take it off. If you are close to central tx I would be happy to let you try it out.

I appreciate the offer but Caddo is far in the NE. Things have really cleared up with my sight picture well beyond 100yds now after popping that 22mm plug though. For the life of me I cant figure out why Sightmark doesnt recommend this to help with focusing anywhere in the manual. The designer obviously took the time to engineer the lense cap to do this. I found a YT video showing what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN6OS1ufkCQ

Could sell the 4X and get the 6.5X. We use the 6.5 power out to 250 yds at night with the cap open and a cheap IR light from Amazon.
