I plan on doing some light rattling, very light, maybe just a little sparring just North of PK this weekend, just to see. Last year the rut was not until the weekend before Thanksgiving there and into Thanksgiving week. I rattled in a heavy 8 that I shot, he showed up in about 20 seconds...

8 years ago I killed my buck within twenty minutes of deer season starting. I just lightly ratteled with only the tines and did not use the main beam at all. It was a nice 9 point. The following year I was sitting on the ground in some brush and started rattleing as soon as it was getting light enough to see. I had a buck jump in the brush with me. It scared me so bad all I could do was a backstroke through the brush to get away from him. He ran out about forty yards and stood there broad sided trying to figure out what had just happened. If he had been two or three years older that would have been a mistake on his part.
I have actually ratteled in more bucks with a light rattle than an all out brawl type rattle anyway.
