Here's the scenario: Your dove hunting a tank opening weekend and getting close to a limit. The 85 year old landowner shows up with his shotgun and sits down next to you. He says, " Son, my eyesight is getting too bad to hit these dove. I'll sit here next to you and may shoot one if it gets within 10 yards. I'd appreciate it if you would go ahead and kill the rest for me because I have company coming in and we want a mess of dove." I know what the law says but what would you do?

I would go back back to my truck and pull one of the other 5 limits I shot earlier and give it to him.

depends if you are a man or a Politically Correct mouse -------- a man would help an 85 yr old and shoot his doves----- I am hoping sclebuster is a 19 yr old college student and has not learned how the real world works yet. Laws are a suggestion of proper behavior, little else -------- ask Hillary if you dont believe me.

I know what I would do, I'm just wondering what people from the forum would do. Or if they would honestly admit to what they would do.

I'd stay behind him for starters.

Help him out, because you know ornery can be sometimes, you may get a call the next morning you're welcome to stop coming out and hunt on the property.

Get your limit and give it to him. If you have some back home, do the same. Don't break the law. I grew up in a country where hunting was a regulatory mess with hunters being routinely harassed. I appreciate the rights and protections afforded to me as a hunter here, even with all the hiccups and areas where things can be improved upon. Don't get in trouble over doves. Also, given the old fella's poor eyesight, it is in your best interest that he doesn't shoot, as some have commented above

A MAN would do everything he could to help the 85yr old gentleman shoot all of the doves he could on his own while filling out his own limit at the same time. Then that MAN would volunteer to clean the gentleman's dove and deliver them to his house. Along with those cleaned doves he would also deliver all the doves that he himself had harvested and cleaned that day accompanied by a note that said "I hope that you and your guests enjoy this meal. Thank you for the privilege of hunting your land. I hope to be welcome again another time." That's what a MAN would do.

I agree with both, placing weight as follows: 60% with the top response, and 50% with the bottom response. Because I do everything 110%.

I'd ask him how many birds he thinks he needs and see if I have enough at the house. Could might even get rid of last years birds that are taking up space. lol
I always enjoy it when our ranch guys show up right before I am heading out. Means I don't have to clean any birds.

Nothing judgmental by pointing out an error in math...............
But on the topic at hand, I'd keep shooting with the old man and tell him nice shot everytime a bird fell, and joke that perhaps he should be helping me shoot my limit.
I wonder how many times two crappie fisherman come in with a 2 man limit of crappie in which each fisherman kept exactly their limit?
Same thing in Louisiana when 4 guys go out trout fishing and come back to the dock with 100 trout. What percentage of the time are they each catching and keeping only 25 fish each?
Its a little easier duck hunting to keep track of 6 ducks, but dove hunting we like to hunt in groups. We aren't out to get a limit in a box of shells all the time either. Its about having fun, ragging on the other guys for their misses, and several times during a hunt you don't know who hit what. We usually keep them in relatively even piles to keep count and make sure we don't go over our limit.

I'll be honest and some of you can go ahead think what you want but... Heck yeah I'd sit there and help him fill a limit!

almost sounds like a setup
is he testing the hunter?
end of the day, either give him yours. do you really need them? and or move mojo closer as suggested earlier and see if he can hit them
any thing else is questionable at best shooting another persons limit never works, for either
