We name them but mostly with a simple description. "Big 8," "Wide 9," stuff like that.

As I said before, we name them to identify them. I try to pick a couple of deer each year and hunt that deer. Sometimes we get them and sometimes we don't. We have named others because it is easier to identify them when talking than trying to describe them each time. Especially when we are able to get pictures of them year to year This was Big Red. Pictures don't do him justice, he kept that red coat year around. He was old when we first caught him on camera and we hunted him even when he went down hill. My guess is that he died of old age. This one was "Wide track". He field dressed just shy of 285 and Big Red dwarfed him body wise. This one was "high tower" The spread on the wide track buck is pretty darn impressive!

for the sake of discussion in camp a lot of our bucks usually end up with some sort of a descriptive name just so we know which deer a person is referring to when we don't have pictures right in front of us.

Don't name them unless there is something unusual....like droopy mentioned above.

I only recall us naming one buck on camera last year "Super freak". We were all after him for our cull. I kilt him.

We tend to name th ones we DON'T want to kill. For instance, year before last there was a long antlered spike that we'd see off my stand almost religiously. People were discussing letting a kid take him or for a meat hunt. I finally got a REALLY good look at him one day, from about 10 feet away. He wasn't no spike. At the end of each "spike" was a perfect crab-claw, just enough to keep him alive in an AR county. Whenever anyone asked to hunt my stand I'd warn them not to shoot "Crabcakes."

This here is Knight Rider! I've hunted him hard the last 2 years with nothing to show for. He shows up in September and sporadically visits during the season......but only at night! Last year he showed up in daylight hours after the season ended. It was in early February during a strong cold front. I can't wait to see what he looks like this year. He's definitely my main target buck this year, and hopefully he slips up. 'Hope you get him this year. That's a beautiful buck. If it turns bitter cold during the season, you better camp out at the blind. You might try not hunting that blind at all until it does turn bad cold.

Whether he taste good or not every bite would tasted like pure satisfaction! I got over anxious the first couple of years and I'm pretty sure i put to much pressure on him. This will be my third year to hunt and live on the property, so it's hard not to go out every chance I get. This year I'm only going out under the most perfect conditions.

I'm guilty of getting too anxious myself haha. 10pt with double drop tines I'd guess about 170. Only saw him once a few years ago haven't seen him since

Yes, I think he went to town on a hay bale and got the blue wrap all tore up on his antlers. We died rolling laughing so hard when we pulled this picture up. It's still a funny pic.
