Was about to order a new Browning X-Bolt for my oldest daughter when I got a text from an acquaintance of mine wanting to know if I was interested in buying a new rifle. He won it in a raffle, doesn't hunt, wanted to sell it. Too good to pass up, so jumped on it vs buying another Browning. New Tikka T3 Lite/Youth model 243, comes with strap and $60 of Hornady ammo. Paid $400 for all. I really like wooden stocks on bolt guns, but figured what the heck...I've never owned a Tikka but have always heard good things about them. She's happy happy. Just needs some glass and range time, to come soon. Looking forward to us putting some meat on the table with her new set-up. She's deadly with my old Savage 243 but the trigger on this gun feels much better, so this otta be fun. Dead pig pics to follow. Thanks for looking.

Great rifle! I've always liked wood stocks too but these synthetics can take a scratch or two and you won't even notice.

This thing really is light, hopefully doesn't kick that much more. It's the lightest rifle I think I've ever held.

Great deal for a budding Huntress for sure. FWIW Look at Cameraland NY and their demo deals for the same kind of bargains. Saw a Crossfire II Vortex the other day 4x12 for $140 with 4" eye relief and a lifetime no fault warranty, or talk to Neil or Doug and ask for suggestions. Ron

Thank you Ron, for that information. I hope my youngest daughter follows in her big Sister's footsteps. She ain't scared, she'll push the boys out of the way to get in there and gut/skin an animal. Then jump on the back of the buggy right next to the gut bucket to go dump, while other females and some males at camp are grossed out and stand back with silly looks on their faces.

That is SO Awesome!!! be careful, they grow up too dang fast
Look at the Hornady line of "LITE" factory loads. I started my daughter on these in her .243, all one shot kills. She still shoots the LITE's in her 7mm-08, they use the fine SST bullets
Look forward to more stories on this one!!

Great rifle! I have both T3's and XBolts, imo I see them as being of the same quality. She'll be very happy with it. You got a smoking deal, well done!

Good deal no doubt! Man, not that it matters but the trigger is LOUD on this thing. Trigger feel is very good but the first time I squeezed to check trigger I thought something broke. "WHAP", I thought good lord...feels real good though. I still can't get over how lite it is. Guess I'm just used to carrying heavier guns.

Great little rifle for the huntress. Some good advice from Wylie and Buzz already given. On the scope longer eye relief like suggested above is a good idea on a light rifle, do not want a scope ding on her face. If later on she wants a wood stock or target stock they are available for the Tikka Congrats on the rifle and on a daughter that likes to hunt with her Dad

They do have excellent out of the box triggers, and have what I like to call a very positive firing pin strike.

You guys will have a ball hunting. Of my 4, #3 was the one who was into hunting. She even guided, for money, with me. She got better tips than I did, and she could gut a deer in, right at 5 minutes. Needed the hunters to help her load it into the truck though. Happy times are in your future, congrats.

Yessr, and I think I'll sight it in with the 80 grain GMX's too (since I already have them) and start her there with this gun vs the 100 gr Corelokt that I started them on with other 243's (in heavier guns). If the recoil isn't a problem then will step up to the 100 grainer's, or just buy reduced recoil loads as suggested above. I've been impressed with the GMX's in the past on pigs, but have no experience on deer yet with this bullet. I didn't think she was all that recoil sensitive before, but a few weeks ago I took them to the range for pistol day and this time, for some reason, she was being recoil sensitive. I dunno, we'll see.

Great rifle, she can use for a lifetime. I got my stepson a T-3 Lite in .308 for a graduation present. He is over the moon about it. He especially enjoyed me telling him, at the gun counter, that it's the best mass produced bolt action on the market, and four guys behind the counter were nodding, saying "yep, that's right."
Once she gets longer arms, a stock swap will be no big deal.

Go check out the Thumbhole stocks that Boyds Gun stocks have to offer. I bought one and put it on my Tikka.
