All I use on deer. I like huge holes and massive blood trails.

One two separate occasions, I have had two blades break off when shooting a turkey through the body. Also had a failure to open on about an 80 pound pig at 25 yards. Not impressed with them.

Good to know I'm not the only one evaluating my kills/autopsy to eval shot, ect.
I am new to cross bow/bow hunting. I shoot them through a FX4 stealth cross bow, and really like them. Seem accurate to practice points. 3 Shots, shattered bone, and only one bent blade on one of the shots. Blood trail seems good enough. I can only compare them to NAP spitfires my brother uses, and feel just as good blood trail between the two tips.
JThoele I do question how you knew failure to open, considering the blades always close when you pull them back out of ground, animal, ect. You would have to look at internals of animal you shot to know whether failure to open. The turkey situation is crazy though, and would bother me.
I got the newer carni-four to try this year, hope the new tip design is as good as trocar type.

JThoele, I have also seen one have a failure to open 2 blades. It was easy to see that one blade cut on entrance and through the lungs. On exit the other 2 blades opened going through ribs and skin which aided in recovery but those were a little late opening.
That and one other instance is why I prefer fixed broadheads.

Subcutaneous tissue and fat was clogged in the slot where the blade would cam open. Also once I retracted the blade open for further inspection the blade surface was not knicked in the slightest and there was a delineated difference in the film created by blood and tissue on the exposed non cutting surface that passed through and the blemish free, factory clean blade surface which was not exposed when it didn't deploy. The other two blades were a different story. Between that and the turkey experiences I'm not planning on shooting another one into a game animal. Believe me, I wanted to be a fan of them, and after paying for two packs of them I wanted them to work as advertised!

I've seen people not assemble the broadhead correctly and had the same issue you had. No offense, but that was prolly operator error.

^ I wouldn't rule it out, but I did confirm the retention cup and ring where in correct alignment before screwing them on?

Hmmm.... Of course, nothing is fool proof. Even fixed blades can fail, maybe not as often. I've nothing but great luck for the past 10 years, even helped me find game that I've pulled the shot (due to massive carnage). AS you saw in the vid I posted, two deer. Same broadhead. Two broken bones of the dreaded front leg bone. No damage to the head.
I do recommend you shoot a high energy bow when shooting any mechs. I know they say you need at least 60#KE, but I'll go out on a limb and say at least 80#KE. I'm around 100#ke.

^ true. I also considered this when purchasing a mechanical, and is why I chose the more conservative cutting diameter reaper rather than the 2" WT special. Nonetheless, a 100gr head on a gold tip XT arrow traveling 305 fps yield plenty of energy for these sub-30 yard shots. In fact one of the turkeys I used a reaper on that had two blades break off, I assumed it was because it passed thru the bird and carried on for another 10 yards before hitting rocky soil, but upon cleaning the turkey I found the mangled blade inside the carcass. This yields my personal distrust and dissatisfaction with the product; however, I'm aware many people swear by them.
