You can come with me to Idaho this year smile

Hunted the Bitterroot range with my uncle as a much younger man. Took me a month to recover. He killed a 340 inch 6X6 and I had a chance, but passed on a 250 yard shot thinking he would get closer, and he just disappeared. Still regret not squeezing one off.

I didn't draw any tags this year..

So long story short I got talked in to a trip to Idaho... OTC elk, deer, bear and wolf.

If I tag out early I'll be south bound to CO and hunting there also. I took 14 days off so I should be able to hit both states.. Technically it's On the way home anyways smile

Idaho is 8 miles in though. Working on getting my pack under 25lbs for 7 days.

It's like CO Archery(OTC and Draw units).. Except they have OTC deer tags. Cool thing is you can use your deer tag for a bear or lion. Wolf tag is like $25.

I will kill a wolf

Those of you that got refunds for CO elk tags, do you remember how much it was? I applied for a cow tag and I think it was a refund for 466, does that sound right?

Sounds about right. If you didn't hunt there last year there is an app fee.

Been looking at doing a trip like this for the last 3 years, researching GMU's, stats, harvest numbers, etc. My son is finally old enough (17) to do something like this to where it is not a baby sitting trip.

What made you guys pick this area (GMU) vs other ones. I'm curioius? I've been focused on NW corner for OTC up in 30,31,32, etc.

It was based on general knowledge of the area. I'm familiar with that terrain and how to hunt it. It holds elk. I didn't get too scientific about it.

School would be the biggest headache probably, unless they will let him do some ahead of time, or make-up some, we had a young fella that did that a couple years. No doubt he would love the heck out of it though.

School is the easy part. We control the scheduling. It's more dependent upon my work schedule.

Im going to have to check on that, cause both of mine came back low, im about 80 short of what I spent on the draw tags, and I dont see anywhere that talks about a app fee.

Of course, as usual. And yes, I'm doing my part to make my children socially awkward, as I hear is always the case.

There always is an application fee, though I don't recall how much CO charges.
