My son Wyatt just took his E5 exam and will know if he passed around thanksgiving. Sorry about the pictures below, first picture is of him receiving the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist badge/pin (ESWS). The second picture he received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. The Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist insignia also known as the ESWS pin, is authorized for wear by any enlisted member of the United States Navy who is permanently stationed aboard a navy afloat command and completes the enlisted surface warfare qualification program and personal qualification standards (PQS). The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal is awarded to members of the Armed Forces, including members of Reserve components on active or inactive duty, of the grade of lieutenant commander/major and below. The award shall be presented for meritorious service or achievement in combat or non-combat circumstances based on sustained performance or specific achievement of a superlative nature, and shall be of such merit as to warrant more recognition than is possible by a fitness report or performance evaluation, but which is not significant enough to justify a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal or higher. Professional achievement that merit the NA must: (a) Clearly exceed that which is normally required or expected, considering the individual's grade or rate, training, and experience, and (b) Be an important contribution of benefit to the United States and the Naval Service. Leadership Achievement that merit the NA must: (a) Be noteworthy (b) Be sustained so as to demonstrate a high state of development or, if for a specific achievement, be of such merit as to earn singular recognition for the act, and (c) Reflect most creditably on the efforts of the individual toward the accomplishment of the unit mission.

Wyatt received his promotion to PO2 back in November, got a couple of Tattoos also, imagine that a Sailor with Tats. He has less than 1 year left in Sasebo, Japan. He said he has 3 looks to choose from? they told him if he stays another year in Sasebo they will give him a big bonus, extra 30 day leave and allow him to take his E6 or PO 1st class, if he chooses another base he will have to wait two years before he can take the E6 test. He likes it there but really wants to go to the a Navy base in Cherry Point, NC and work with the Marines in some sort of special training they do there. Roughing it in Guam.

My grand-daughter got her flag and certificate for me, and gave to us. Honors my Dad and my Father-in-Law. Pretty cool that they will do this for service personnel and their families.

I’ve been on the ground in contact when an A10 did a low pass and the enemy disappeared. They literally seen the plane and left lol. They didn’t want what was coming if they stuck around.

What a difference 4 1/2 years make. Wyatt is stationed in Bahrain now and will be there another 15 months. When my son went into the Navy no Tats and weighed around 165.lbs and did not cuss very much Now he weighs 186.lb, plenty of Tats and his use of the English language has changed a lot 6/23/2017 with girlfriend Aimee Not sure on date but recent and yes still with Aimee
