For some all the newbies or even vets. Cory Jacobson -9x World Elk calling champ...... Put an all encompassing 16part online course together. How to use googleearth to scout, GPS, calling, draw odds etc. I was bored and thought I would try it for $49. Still got a few modules left but it's pretty good stuff It's pretty impressive. over 120,000 words, 60+ video components, and hundreds of diagrams and images http://www.elk101.com/onlinecourse

I'll have to check that out at some point. when i get some free time I really do want to check this out... Order it and do a module a day on your phone. It's really geared toward bow hunting but it gives lots of good info.

Has the meeting date been set yet? Another round of PMs should go out tonight I'll have to check that out at some point. when i get some free time I really do want to check this out... Order it and do a module a day on your phone. It's really geared toward bow hunting but it gives lots of good info. I was going to buy a cross bow for deer hunting. Now I am thinking I should just go compound so that I can hunt in more states

There is nothing like hunting elk in the rut. Choosing compound over crossbow is worth it just for that one reason alone.

My thought is that the weather is not nasty enough so they are going to stay where it's harder to get.
So my thought would be to take my tent and trek up and camp overnight. I saw that place on the other side of the river but there is no trail head there.

You don't need a trailhead across the river. It would just take some time and planning to pick a way up.
I have some ideas on how to attack Priest Gulch on foot. I don't know how well it would work, having never done it, but I have some ideas.
Where is the Devil's side? If it's due north, through the gate at the end of the road, that's huntable. If it's between Taylor and Stoner, it's earned its name, and I wouldn't bother.

Keep in mind having to pack an animal out if successful. That's true enough. Most of the places we're talking about would be fine. Priest Gulch could be tricky.

Keep in mind having to pack an animal out if successful. I would take that problem as opposed to not getting one I am interested in priest gulch more and more. Can drive to the top and hunting along the top and drop Ina's needed

Priest Gulch? Is that the area we went that first day for water? There seemed to be quite a few other hunters over there.
