What makes you think he looks domesticated? I'm no expert, but to me his torso/body length makes it appear he may have some domestic traits.

Feral, just a lighter 'splotched' hog.
Don't believe the knot in the tree is 3' high though. IF it is...then the other two black hogs standing next to the tree are awfully big ones.
It takes a really big hog to stand 36" at the shoulder. Most won't make 30".
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

It's my understanding that pretty much all of the hogs in Texas are feral, meaning they come from domestic stock somewhere back in time. There may be bit of "Russian Boar" in there, but it's highly diluted. My father-in-law, who had a farm a little east of New Braunfels, said they didn't have a hog problem around there for many years until there was an accident involving a truck carrying live hogs. A number of them escaped, and suddenly they had hogs in the area. This happened several decades ago according to him.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

per wild life biologist, domestic hogs that escape become feral in very short time
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

This is especially true considering that while domestic traits may have been relegated to being recessive in a long term feral population, they may show up quite well in offspring with a double recessive chromosome match for a given phenotype or phenotypes. So there will be hurdles, but if you can overcome them somehow, that would be really cool!
