I was wondering if anyone had any real feed back on Leica scopes I have a guy who wants to trade me his Leica ER 5 3-15x56 - Std. Ballistic for my Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 BT - Plex I dont use it its sitting on a shelf collecting dust it is a good scope i just dont see my self taking long shots hunting on ft hood my sone liked it it was acuret out to 300yrs with just sliding a switch but he took it off is25-06 and put it on the 270 that he dons not shoot much and i have never mounted mine we got about 4-5 month ago when we went to a storage unit auction in austen i paid 400 for the unit I just wanted the tools the were in it when we spend on of the boxes they were in it the boxes were there the were rapped in a towl so the scopes more then paid for the unit there sere some other ones in there that i sold really cheap just to make some money also a couple of bipods and a sooting stick
any how the guys leica is brand new i dont know were he got it but it is like 1300 and the swarovski is 900 are leicas scopes any good i cold not fined a lot of feed back on them i like it because its a straight forward scope and if i am going to shoot far i have and Eliminator III that does a great job at so far i have only been able to shoot 400yrs but the were all in a decent size group good enough for hunting and its just a fish of a button give me the yardage and tells me what dot to use but going red i think the dots could be a bit smaller of more accurate shooting but it works well enough for deer hunting
any how what are peoples option of the leica and do you think it would be a good trade the swarovski were not in boxes but i dont see any marks from mounting ring they look new

I had a Leica it amazing, by far the cleanest picture, to my eye, I have ever seen... and I have or have owned them all. scope mechanics were spot on and so on. I traded it because it was in MOA and I did not like the German 3 post reticle as much as I thought I would. If the optic would have been offered w a mil based reticle and turrets I'd still have in on my rifle....

I've never owed a Leica scope, but I have their Geovid binocs. If their scopes are anything like their binos, I wouldn't hesitate to own one.

One big problem with used/2nd hand Leica stuff is that there is no warranty, as it applies to the original owner only, non transferrable. That's a puzzling practice since they command such a high price. Leica has some great products, but their company is clueless when it comes to competing and marketing in the USA.
I would look very hard at the Meopta R2 scopes. They can hang with anything on the planet, and are a great value IMO.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
