I was out at Luminant 607 WMA in Robertson County today for one last hunt and ended up shooting a huge sow. Don't know the weight, but she was big and heavy. I managed to drag her about 100 yards before deciding that maybe she should go out in pieces. I drove out early this morning, walked in, set up my base at a brush blind I'd built earlier, and headed around to likely areas for some still-hunting. Was headed back toward the blind around lunchtime when I heard a bunch of movement a ways off but coming my way. I'd heard coyotes howling earlier so my first thought was it was them, but then I started seeing movement through the trees and it was a sounder of hogs. I picked out a spot where I knew I'd be able to make a clean shot, and when the biggest hog trotted through, I fired. It took three standing freehand shots to finish her off. I used my dad's old Remington 742 in .30-06, shooting 150-grain bullets. I have a deer, a coyote, a javelina and now a hog from public hunts. Does that count as a Grand Slam?

Whose with me I'm in, even though I don't remember ever seeing a turkey on the WMAs I hunt. Is there any place to do a walk-in hunt for mule deer, or is that draw only?

Deer (white or mule) pig (feral or peccary) and dog (not domestic)
That should cover the whole state and everbody is included without driving for days.
