When hogs come in to a deer feeder, they get very "busy" moving around all the time, trying to suck up as much corn as they can. Trying to get a bead on them, especially at night, can really be frustrating. What I do, besides my hog logs and cow panel cages, is take my post hole digger and make two or three holes about 6-8 inches deep and then pour the corn into the holes. If the ground is too hard to dig holes (which it is, most of the time around here!), I'll pour "puddles" of corn for them to work. Add a splash of kerosene or diesel to the piles of corn and it will keep the deer and 'coons from eating it. The opportunity for "doubles" increases greatly as the hogs pack themselves around the piles of corn, plus it slows down their frantic movement quite a bit.

Have gotten the black plastic containers that nuts, bolts & washers come in from work & soured corn with water... Never got inta the diesel, kerosene bit... Have seen others say deer & coons eat it also... Been using cams & boots on ground ta see when hogs are in area, then plain ol corn, hand thrown & small piles for when hogs are in area.... Cams can narrow the time frame.... Cool thread

We tried digging holes before. They dug it all up in a week and they made the hole 3-4 times bigger than they were to begin with. So we indeed up with 4 giant holes in the middle of a lane. Didn't work so well for us.

At times I pour the corn out in a straight line over a 15-20 yard strip. Sometimes the hogs will line up and I am to get doubles. Myabe I'm unlucky, but doubles don't happen too often for me.

This will all work. I also pour the corn in a line and the hogs really do line up.
Usually, however, I simply look for the hog doing sentinel duty, doing security checks, and is most apt to be still. Or, I watch the feeding behavior of a particular hog to see if it has a repeating pattern and then shoot on the slow part.

You can also mix cracked corn with the whole corn, it is harder to pick up...so it keeps them under the feeder longer. Normally, hogs will settle down a bit once they've been at a feed site for awhile, but if a LOT of hogs are competing for a small amount of corn, it will always be dynamic. You can dig a SINGLE (not multiple) hole about 6"-10" deep and 6"-8" in diameter, put some corn in the bottom of that (do not fill it). One or two of the dominate hogs will claim that when they come to feed. Yes, they WILL dig it out and make it bigger, it isn't maintenance free. Just fill it in when necessary. Hogs will often times get on their knees to eat from it.

You can dig a hole bigger than a small bucket or pail, something that you can break away from the concrete afterwards if you choose. Then cut/drill a hole in the bottom of it to fit a small diameter drain pipe into, then put a bunch of small rocks in the bottom of the hole near where the drain pipe will be place bucket in your hole and pour concrete under and around making sure not to get concrete in the drain pipe

405 grain jacketed soft point, slows them down pretty good. 300 grain Barnes TTSX isn’t too bad either.

baiting pigs is a terrible way to get rid of pigs Agreed! Baiting and shooting them when they come in won't get rid of them as they will breed faster than you can keep up with them. Trapping hogs is the best eradication technique. But for those folks who enjoy hunting the bristly beasts, learning how to best attract them to a site and keep them around long enough to launch a few bullets their way is a good topic! I use traps on my property to control the population, but when friends or family want to go hog hunting, I close up the traps and use the different techniques mentioned here to get the piggies in close enough to pick off.
