I agree, based on what I have learned when it comes to storing anything with a small engine. It's best to run the carb dry, and if possible, drain any remaining fuel out of the float bowl. The stuff they put in gas these days can clog carb ports, even after using a fuel stabilizer. But just as the case with water heaters, be careful using the drain screw if the engine has some age to it, since drain screws that have not been removed for some time (or ever) can tend to leak afterwards. And likewise, use the primer bulb to push out any remaining fuel from two-cycle engines after letting them run dry.

Also, if you intend to leave the engine idle for more than a month or two, it's good to remove the spark plug and squirt about a tablespoon of oil into the open cyclinder before turning the crank a time or two by hand. This will help protect the cylinder walls, pistons, and rings. This is especially true for two-cycles where an otherwise dry start months later could scour theses same components.

I just ordered a new Tacoma double cab 4X4 this past weekend. You'll have to look long and hard for a good used Tacoma. They're rather popular it seems

Yeah I just sold my 99 Tacoma 4cyl 2wd sr5 with 310k on it for 6k lol and people were lined up wanting it

I bet they were. There is a cult following for those suckers. They just don't die.

I wasn't aware the tacoma 4x4's were in such demand. I just gave my college son my 2004 Tacoma 4x4 with only 90k miles on it. Never used it for off road or at the lease. Dang it!

I think all Toyota 4x4's are. When I bought my Tundra back in 2010 I found it online, called the dealership and the sales guy said they never had it. Told him to go look and they got it in that day. He said he was surprised and that they cannot keep them on the lot.

a new Honda rancher is in the 6k range when I was looking in april of 2015 / glad I bought a SXS

Can-AM 800 for $9,999 - this has exceeded all expectations : seats are comfortable / out of this world power / 20mpg / tons of add-ons / almost 1 year old now 0 issues / it has gone thru places on our 3000 acre West TX lease that our other hunters would ride with me rather than take there trucks or ATV's.

I have helped pull 2 full size 4x4 trucks 1 chevy & 1 ford out of the mud. Hunter's did not want to wait till I unloaded & got dressed & gassed up the can am. one hunter in a Chevy had slid off the road & all the other hunters in camp jumped into a 4x4 ford to rescue him and got that truck stuck also. went down and picked up everyone then pulled the chevy out the next day after the morning hunt then used that truck to pull the Ford out along with the can-am helping ( his rear tires were up in the air)

The Can AM is a Beast & I will never go back to a ATV - it has a roof and windshield & by next year it will have doors and a heater also. for the amount of money spent it was a WIN

This pic was taken over the thanksgiving weekend during a 4 day rain storm: my can am was the only thing able to get everyone safely to there hunting areas and back & haul the game back also. We buried the can am up to the lights 3 times crossing creeks with water flowing thru the middle up to the top of my snake boots. I can't say enough about this machine , totally impressed me and everyone that has been in it thru some of the storms and mud . that is a 265 lb pig in the back shot by my wife.

I should seriously consider selling my '98 Tacoma. It only has a little over 200K on it.

I have a '98 Tacoma with a little over 200k on it. Two door SR5 4x4 with a camper shell. It is my wife's but I drive it now. When we got it registered in Texas for the first time, they said it assessed at over 7k. We will be getting rid of it soon because we need four doors. It did great as a hunting vehicle this year, though, on a trashy, muddy county road. Never worried about getting stuck.

Yes sir it appears so. According to the many many quotes I've received.

My folks have a 20+ year old Kaw Mule 4X4 with an enclosed cab and side doors. Initially purchased by my grandfather passed down to my folks when he quit ranching/farming. It's been driven daily, and driven hard. They have never had an issue with it other than flats, maintenance, and minor stuff like lightbulbs burning out the a windshield wiper motor that had to be replaced. Having seen many Polaris and Can Am motor swaps or rebuilds after just 4 or 5 years of moderate use, It blows mind that Kaw builds a product that is significantly more durable than other vendors products.

I know Ive dogged the heck out of that mule, my folks have as well for years. And it still runs as good as it did back in the day. Don't look as pretty as it did off the lot, but pretty ain't nearly as important as being able to drive it hard (unless it's your wife or gf). Kawasaki's are reliable, which considering the typical life span of an atv/utv, is the antithesis of the throwaway products being sold by Polaris, Can Am, etc.

With the relatively recent emphasis and increased availability of ethanol fuels, it's gonna require a bit more maintenance on a gas powered atv/uts to have the same degree of reliability and durability that my folks have had.

I paid 4800.00 for a brand new 2015 Rancher 4x4 manual at Brookhaven Honda in Missouri last year. It does anything I need it to do and most of the time I don't even need 4x4.

Find an old Honda or big bear/kodiack yami... They are durable as it gets.. New I'd go with Honda but Polaris has their 500 for crazy price and I have a few buddies that's been putting them through the test.. Cub has a SXS out now called the chalenger that in a 500 with roof windshield and winch runs about $8500.. Little loud but sucker runs good
