What do y'all use to paint your guns/gun parts in? I need something I can buy or build that will fit in my garage and take up as little space as possible. It doesn't need to be an entire room or anything I don't think, just enough room to hang a 24" barrel or 15" handguard. I'm starting Cerakote and obviously need a place to do it.

Go to an appliance store and ask for a washer or dryer box. Make hinges using duct tape. When it gets funky, throw it out and get a new one.

No need for any kind of ventilation or anything to protect from over pray in your opinion?

I doubt you will be running a high volume operation in your garage, so for the 2 minutes it takes to spray a gun or parts, the fumes will be minimal. Like mentioned above, large cardboard boxes work well for controlling over spray. Crack your garage door a few inches and turn on a box fan to move out what fumes there are. Where painters mask if you're concerned about inhaling the fumes

I am hoping this aspect of my business will take off and I will be doing high volume, but not at the moment. I'm still waiting on my FFL and already have 6 people wanting either things painted or for me to assemble a rifle for them. I saw someone use a wall cabinet with a filter on the back and he hung hooks from the top to hold parts, that may not be a bad idea. Just wasn't sure how much fumes I will be getting with Cerakote. I will definitely be wearing a respirator.

Use respirator and you should be fine. Honestly wouldn't see the need for a paint booth but that me. Lots of space taken up to only be doing gun parts. Good luck with business and post some pics.

I would defiantly have an area to do what you need to do. As stated above the cardboard is a good idea for the simplicity and low to no start up cost. Certain guns have less overspray than others. Keep the wind out of your work space. Be it with garage door or other. Guess it really comes down to budget and how much of your garage you want to take up. Could always make a makeshift booth from a roll of bis queen. Not sure I spelled that right. Biggest thing is don't over think it. Let it evolve into what it's going to evolve too and grow as necessary.

I've painted a few cars in a garage with tarps forming the paint booth and a fan sucking out the over spray and fumes. They turned out well. As stated above, don't over think it and let it evolve to fit your needs

Go to an auto paint supplier, and ask to see their respirators. Do not go with the cheapest, buy a quality one. You only have one set of lungs, take care of them.

Back to the spray booth, you are kind of on your own, the washer/dryer box will work, but you also need some sort of exhaust system and a controlled clean air going in. I don't spray, I use oil finishes on my calls and just need a clean dust free area for them to dry.

My set up was for drying only, again it is for a dust free environment so the finish dries without dust on it. I had an opening on one side that had a 2 micron filter on it and on the other side an opening with a computer fan drawing the air out of the box. Also my "box" was from a 2 drawer filing cabinet.

Wetting the floor or laying out wet drop clothes will help contol dust. Watch for sources of ignition. Know the flash point of you paint vapor.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I saw a guy use a surplus metal school locker. He put an electric heating element in the bottom for when he needed to bake a finish. Plenty of room for a rifle, but didn't take up much room in the shop.

This guy has one make out of cardboard with a fan and foam board. Should give you some ideas as to the spray booth.
