Do such things exist? Not necessarily for this year, but I'm curious if a group of guys could get a decent deal to hunt quail on a place after deer season closes, and then through turkey season.

I've had a couple of them.

They used to be real common as deer started to invade the traditional quail lease country (and candidly made it a lot harder to find full season quail leases). The old rule of thumb used to be a if a full season quail lease was say $3.00 an acre, an after deer season lease was a $1.50 an acre. You really only lose about a month of decent hunting from Dec 10th to Jan 10th (November is too hot and green in the rolling plains).

Based on how low the quail population got for three or four years in the rolling plains, I am not sure what quail lease prices are going to be next season. Bit worried it might go the way of day lease prices, which went up about 50% this season because of simple supply and demand economics. Hopefully it settles down next year with a second strong quail year.
