I made the mistake of being on an elk hunt with one of the TV shows there also hunting elk. Everything was all about them, and making sure they got their animals, then every day they came back to the lodge with excuses why they missed the shot and how they had to get another opportunity the next day. The rest of us in camp where all treated like we where imposing on the outfitter. On another hunt, one of the running backs for the Buffalo Bills who had been in several super bowls was in camp. No gear, no binoculars, no boots and he was using a rifle with open sites. He wasn't prepared at all, but the guides where killing themselves to get him on game. I don't remember him ever getting a shot, they kept saying he couldn't climb at all and had to keep stopping to rest.
If I know there is going to be a TV show there, or a celebrity of some kind is going to be there, I wont go there!!!!!

I have hunted with a bunch of people guiding and hunting both. The worst ones are the tv shows with the so called experts. If I have the choice I would rather guide the guy who is hunting because he loves it and he worked hard to get there.

Would I like to hunt with a celebrity? The first question is whether I would want to meet the celebrity.
I want to hunt with good people. I don't care about their status in society.

Not my cup of tea. To each their own. Nor mine either. I've shared three camps with TV production outfits. The VIP's guide will likely be the outfitter himself, freshly shaved and wearing a clean suit of clothes. The other guides and camp help will be at their beck and call too. If a superb trophy animal has been spotted in the area, this animal will be hunted exclusively by the VIP and off limits to the other hunters (who are paying customers, while the VIP's hunt is usually gratis). As part of my normal "feeling out" and booking procedure nowadays, I ask if commercial filming will be done on our hunt. If so, I will look for another date or even another outfit.

I Elk hunted in Colorado with Lance Berkman about 10 years ago. He's a good man and was a pleasure to hunt with. He's very down to earth and he even invited my son to WT hunt with him on his ranch. My son had an incredible hunt with him! Baker

I don't actually want to hunt with them, but would love to set up a hunt with Dick Cheney and Hilldog.

So someo of yall are saying you don't want to hunt with them just because they are celebs...?
I wouldn't judge someone by what people see them as.... cuz most folks follow in line anyway.. ill make my own decision about them

hunting with people that are on t.v is extremely overrated
when people see them they expect them to be able to do magic tricks or something....in real life a lot of them are blowhards
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I hunt with Ted at least once a year (on my ranches).
I understand that he rubs some the wrong way (and fully understand why). But, there is not any one person who advocates more for gun owners and hunters than he does. He earns my respect there.
And in camp he's not a celebrity. He guts his own animals and lends a hand in all facets of the hunt. He is a hoot in camp and can tell some of the most awesome stories you've ever heard.
He's a good friend.

My in-laws used to take the Bush family on quail hunts around Beeville. This was pre 1980, nice folks.

I wouldn't care to share a camp with any of them. I don't want drama, distractions, narcissists, etc. anywhere around my hunts.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I could care less about hunting with a celeb of any kind...if I could choose someone to hunt with it'd be my paw paw when he was a little younger. He was already in his mid 60s before I turned 10. He's still the toughest man I've ever known. Even in his 70s he could flat out out run us, my dad and me, in the hills of Arkansas while running his dogs. I would have loved to have hunted with him when I'd been old enough to have a chance to keep up with him...lol

He is just a normal guy (a tad snobbish) but he wont talk hunting with you. I think he can sense that I am a better hunter and he feels threatened

I would go on that hunt just to laugh at the camera crews following her around, and her aides telling her which end to point at the birds.

Out of all of the Celebrities I have hunted with I will trade them all for an afternoon with my daughter in a deer stand. I hunted with my grandfather the last few years of his life and I will always be thankful for that time as well. I guess my thought is I dont care who you are or where your from.

Well with how well you get along with a few of the members on here you and Ted should fit together pretty well

I have experienced the same behavior by outfitters with there regular guys. It was pretty bad on a hunt I went on in British Columbia. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if it was a celebrity hunter with a camera crew.
