Vortex does have a great warranty, they pretty much copied Leupold.

How about looking through both and getting the one that you see through the best. Everyone's eyes are different and if you purchase based on someone's advice there is a very good chance you won't get the best scope for you. this

What didn't you like about the Viper? I wouldn't give up on them. I'm sure if you contact them they will make whatever is wrong... right.

You can't take them out of the store without buying them. What store would you suggest, maybe talk to the store manager - ya right !!! SWFA Contact Skylar McMahon @ SWFA... http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/users/27793Note that the discount codes in Skylar's profile are no longer valid, ask for a new code.

I have, on various rifles, Leupold VX3, Vortex Viper PST FFP, Burris Fullfield II, Bushnell (low/mid price model), VX2 Leupold, and for a time, I had a Nikon in use.
If you aren't a turret cranker and want to keep the price down, the Burris FFII is hard to beat. It's a lot of scope for the money. The first one I bought was so bright, clear, and sharp that I bought a second one.
Best glass among the scopes I have is, in my opinion, the Leupold VX3, but the Vortex Viper is about the same. I THINK the VX3 is sharper but I can't prove it, and the difference, if there is one, is of no consequence to me.
Worst glass on scopes I have is a tie between the Nikon Monarch and the VX2. And they both broke. The Leupold is now in the shop. The Nikon is gone.
And, just to say it, both the VX3 and the Vortex Viper have taken a lot of abuse (moderate abuse) and continue to hold zero.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

I have 5 vortex crossfire ii scopes, even on $1500+ rifles. $160ish on ebay for a 4-12x44 w\BDC can't beat it imo. I like Nikon just a better fov with vortex is the winner for me.

I have had numerous scopes throughout the years. I now only own vortex. I have sold off all my others. I had nikons for years until one of their gold series scopes developed an issue and Nikon was a nightmare to deal with. I have also used the warranty with one of my PSTs and vortex replaced it and 2 day air'd the new one back. Now that they have released the new Razor HD II and the AMG I see no reason to stray away from their optics.

I am also VERY disappointed in the vortex and will never own another one. Nikons are ok. Personally wouldn't buy either but out of the 2 I'd go nikon hands down.

I've had Nikon prostaffs and I'm not a huge fan, not sure how much better a buckmasters is, but I looked through one and it did not seem too much better than the prostaff. I have a diamondback 1.75-5x32 and it's ok for what it is, I actually traded to get the diamondback for one of my 3-9 prostaffs. I also agree the Burris fullfield II beats them both. Now there is a brand new fy16 version of the prostaff that I have not looked through yet, so newer may be better.

Most of my rifles are Swaro or zeiss. I picked up an old 22 250 this past weekend with a nikon and was shocked at the difference. I ordered a vortex for it. For the money I think the vortex is better glass. The only nikon I would buy is the monarch series.

I'm a Vortex fanboy. I have two Vipers, a Viper HS, and 2 Crossfire IIs. I was recently looking at new glass for my 16.5" suppressed .308 boltgun build. I intended on another Vortex, but was handed a Nikon at the counter to play with. I bought a Nikon Prostaff Series 7. The glass is more clear and brighter.
