Guy that's with us and joins pastures with me had this Doe come in all year packing this small Bucks Skull in her mouth, at first he said he thought it was stuck in her mouth but she would lay it down like a Chew Toy, eat then pick it back up and go on her way. He gave her the Onion and said she physically seemed fine... Don't know if she was a little "touched" in the Head but just very odd behavior ...

Insert ban camp joke here.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

It amazes me how animals "just know" what they need. It is interesting that she carried it around for so long. Throw ya some bones out for an attractant!

I have seen a few deer in the spring time that chew on antlers for the mineral.

I have video of a mule deer doe carrying around a sheep bone in her mouth with the bone sticking out both sides. (Looked like a dog in a cartoon) She dropped it several times and kept picking it back up.

Sounds like you may need to get out several mineral licks on your place.

Odd behavior for sure, but I would have watched her for longer to see how long the behavior lasted and if the behavior changed. I like to be able to identify certain animals. With this being a definite identity maker, I would have watched her rather than shooting her, but to each their own. We have a doe on our lease we have named Cotton. She doesn't have any ears, just tufts of white hair where her ears should be. It looks like maybe she had her head caught in a fence and and a predator maybe chewed her ears off. She is easily identified, so it is neat to keep track of her from season to season. I saw her yesterday with her twin fawns. I don't want to name them all or anything like that, but it is interesting to me to be able to identify a few.

We have had cattle do that, had one get a tin can stuck in its throat. It typically a mineral deficiency. You may have good luck and see some advancement in antler size next year if you put you out some mineral blocks or feed.

We feed like a machine Derrick and work with a A&M Biologist...Trust me they are not deficient If anything they are Chow Hounds Unless she just gets pushed off the Feeder, we have actually had to cut back we had some Animals Founder...

Unusual no doubt. My first thought was looking at the size, she was keeping what's left of her fawn.
