Just before midnight 16 yrs ago my oldest daughter was born. To say that she is a blessing to me is an understatement. She loves to hunt & fish, and will be the first one in there to help clean an animal and take care of business. She's not scared to get dirty. She will then clean herself up and put brush to canvas painting (her passion). She is a good big Sister to her younger siblings and I am very thankful for her. Can't believe she is 16 already, also can't believe I am getting so many grey hairs. She told me tonight "Dad, I want you to meet someone. This guy I've been talking to, I like him, he said he wants to meet you". I'm not ready for this. I just smiled and nodded. What I wanted to say was does he know I have a mean right hook, night vision, quiet rifles, sharp knives, boat, and a tractor. Guess we'll see Why do they have to grow up? Happy Birthday Big Sis. Little brother & I made her a chocolate & strawberry birthday cake, because that's what she wanted. Big brother was at work. I'm not a baker's man, if it was BBQ I could make it look pretty. Cake tasted good, though.

Well sir, it looks like you are blessed beyond measure. What a beautiful family! So wonderful to have a great oldest - makes life much easier.

Oh, and yes they grow up fast - way too fast. My little girl that just got out of pigtails will graduate from college and get married this year. Love them all you can, while you can - but it looks like you've got that covered.

Fathers with daughters are always blessed. No matter who they marry, no matter how old they get, no matter how far they move away.......they ALWAYS love Daddy. My oldest is now 31, and when she was a preteen, she once barked back at her mother, "I want to play with Daddy; he's always fun. You just make us work--clean house, do our homework--no fun at all!"
This girl was just conferred her PhD at Johns Hopkins. The other two have their Masters....and jobs.
So have fun with your daughter now. Time is fleeting and you will someday long for these, the good old days. Looks like you're doing it right.

Thank you. Not sure that I deserve what I've been given. My oldest son (graduating HS this year) kinda keeps them all in line. I seldom have to correct him, kinda nice LOL. Boy's got a good head on his shoulders. He'll make a good Dad some day. Hopefully waaaay down the line Funny when I'm about to say to a little one "Hey put that down don't do that" he is already in motion and says Dad I got it. Ha ha.

I don't even want to think about getting out of college and getting married....the thought of being a Grandpa scares me. I know it's coming someday but....lord have mercy.

They do grow up fast, don't they? Don't sweat the small stuff when they get to 16. Their hormones are raging and boys will come to call. Rarely met a 16-20 year old male I can say I liked that were interested in my 2 daughters. LOL!!

You have the greatest gift, that continues to grow and will NEVER die. The love ya'll have for each other.

You and big brother sharpen those knives and load the guns just in case, but I do not think you'll need them. Ya already tought her to take care of her self. All you can do now is back her up.

I had 3 daughters. Was out numbered and each one had me twisted around their little finger. It was something that I enjoyed so much. I lost one when she was 19. The two others are now mothers with 3 kids each. Enjoy them each day and make each day the best you can. You will never regret it. Oh, and playing with a big Bowie knife when you meet this new boy in her life might help a little. Son, you don't know what gray hair is yet until they start dating. lol.
