Hey folks, Just bought a new remington 7600... Came with a scope and mounts but not assembled. Only have one gunshop in the area and don't want to deal with them. Shop I got the gun from said I need to use a 2 component glue along with the mounting screws for the mounts... ???'s are.... 1) Can someone tell me what kind of glue I need (is it just a 2 component epoxy for metal)? 2) Is the glue just for mounting the rail to the rifle, or is it to be used on the scope mounts also?
I'm laid up for the next couple of weeks and itching to do something, like to get the rifle ready, have til mid January left for deer season... Thanks for any tips,
Dave

I would not use an epoxy, use a threadlocker like Loctite Purple 222 or Blue 242.

I agree. I would not use epoxy for that. Picture or clear nail polish works great.

Thanks! The video just shows cleaning and mounting, what is with the clear nail polish? just clean, then paint the contact surface and install while wet? I don't like the epoxy idea either... Or is just a something on the screw threads all that is necessary?
Thanks..

Thanks.. Yea, just a dab on the screws to keep them from backing out. No need to also glue down the bases. The screws will do the job.

Blue or purple loctite on the base screws, none on the ring screws.

Shop I got the gun from said I need to use a 2 component glue along with the mounting screws for the mounts... Good thing you asked, Dave. There are way too many idiots behind gun counters dispensing expert advice. I'd go back there and give that guy a good swift kick in the balls.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I spend a lot of my time in sporting goods stores correcting the advice of the employees.
