cm250

best gun i own is the international ruger 77 .22-250 (international just means it's got the wooden stock that goes all the way to the muzzle). what a wonderful round and such an accurate gun.

I don't have a scope on mine, or a laser, but i love the open sights on it. what kind of set up do you have on it?

sorry to hi-jack the thread. In the interest of productivity I'll reiterate "odd size" batteries and throw in those match sticks that light firewood without kindling.

RtPlaceRtTime,
I have a set of Ruger extra high rings with a Simmons 6x24x50 scope on it. Not a hight dollar scope at all, but it works, and works well.

As for keeping the post going, forgot to add some type of gun lubricant or oil for those days when its raining or snowing, and your rifle gets wet, need to dry and oil your guns to prevent the dreaded rust disease.

My Yote toys,
Ruger 77 22-250
Foxpro 416B & numerous hand calls

I don't think I saw this mentioned, but travel trailer toilet paper and the stuff you pour into the holding tanks. Oh, and sewer hoses!

Might also want to stock a few rifle/shotgun cleaning kits.

As far as the ammo goes, you can contact Hill Country Wholesale and they can line you out on what would be good to stock. Other things that we sell alot of are Feeder Parts, Ice, Corn, Deer Feed, Camoflauge (Game Guard, Brush Country, King's etc.), then your caps tshirts koozies and stuff like that always sells. Yeti Coolers are a hot item down here, they are possibly the best you can buy.

don't mean to get off topic, but isn't owning a .22-250 without a scope like owning a corvette with a 60 mph govenor?

i'm open for suggestions, but I can hit a white dinner plate from 150-200 yards with it. do i need much more in east Texas?

edit: I thought a scope would ruin the "feel" of the gun, but to be honest I haven't tried one so I don't know.

The first year I would stay away from ammo and see how many requests you get for it.Otherwise it could end up with it sitting on your shelves collecting dust and taking up space. You might get an occasional request but most hunters will bring enough ammo.
I'd go with mayo, ketchup, mustard, bread, sodas, sandwich stuff like bologna, salami, ham, sandwich cheese, crackers, something like a summer sausage, chips, fritos, dips, beer. All of the stuff others have mentioned, pepto, batteries, first aid propane, lighters for smokes and the long ones for camp fires etc are great for a general store. But be careful on speciality items. They could take up space and tie up your cash if they dont move.
The thing you must ask youself before you order something is how often will I sell this item? Things like parts for a feeder,is it worth the time and space to sell one or two a year?Stick with products that will move quickly the first year and see how many requests you get for other stuff for the next year.
Another thing you could do is take a road trip and find some stores like yours and see what theyre selling.

x2 on the hunter orange vest and cap happened to me once. Had everything except an orange vest lucky to find a little store at 4:45am that had one for a couple of bucks.

i would put at least a handy 3x9 on it, the gun is capable of crazy accuracy, that you just can't get with iron sights.
