So where I hunt in Cass county the neighboring property(timber company land) has a few guys that decided they would shoot probably 50-75 times Saturday afternoon from 2 til dark which ticked me off. Probably about 400-500 yards from me. They had to be within 100 yards of the property boundaries. They shot a few times Saturday morning, I figure they got a couple deer. To what a lot of the locals tell me these guys have been quite a bit of trouble over the last few years. Sounds like they think they own the area.
I'm wondering if y'all shoot for fun during deer season or what your thoughts on it are. Mind you these are not big properties by any means

As long as it's legal I don't have a problem with people doing what they want on their side of the fence.

I am not a fan of a lot of shooting and chaos during the season...it wont bother some places due to size, but the old ones are tough to hunt as is, no need to make it harder and blast away all day long...they do have the right to do so, so i cant say bad things about them...i just wish more people had courtesy and respect for others around.

I got a neighbor who does that every Thanksgiving weekend. I guess they have "city relatives" that come down and since they are in the country they have to shoot guns. AK47's is my guess since there are so many shots in a row. I just put up with it and go on with my hunting. Sometimes I see deer, sometimes I don't. However, I don't know if I would have seen any if they had not been shooting.

Never been a big fan of target shooting at the lease. However, the need came up the second weekend and we shot probably 75 rds in the early afternoon at camp. My brother killed a nice 10 point at the closest stand which is about 400 yds away that evening. I don't think it bothers them as much as we think.

I don't do any unnecessary shooting where I hunt. I like the place to sit quiet amongst a bunch of small properties.

it happens quite often. where I hunt most of the neighbors don't hunt but on the weekends the kin come to visit and some will target shoot.dosent seem to bother the deer much

First hunt my fiance was with me this year the neighbors decided to shoot skeet in their field adjacent to ours (about 500 yards away) from 5pm-dark. Nothing I could do about it.. just made me mad bc she was with me and wanted her to have a good hunt! 2 of the 5 shooter bucks have disappeared since, but the other three are still showing up.

The day before thanksgiving my girlfriend was hunting and the neighbors kids were out shooting all over the place. We were both upset at first but then two hours later she took a nice 9 point

As annoying as it can be, I would be supportive of trying to talk and compromise with them but in the end as long as its on their side and legal.... have at it cause you cant stop it!

I do target shoot occasionally at my place. Usually checking the zero on the some of my rifles. It seems to have zero impact on deer movement and activity.

No one hunts on our place without first checking the zero on their rifle. And making adjustments when necessary. Sometime it takes one shot, but often takes more because the hunter arrives unprepared. If they arrive too late to get it done before a hunt, then I loan them one of my rifles. We've never noticed a negative effect on deer behavior.

Opening weekend there were dozens of shots around our lease. Didn't seem to frighten the deer based on what we shot and what we saw. Checking rifle zero is good and I support it.

Firing hundreds of rounds in a short period while hunters are in their stands shouldn't be allowed on leases but to each his own.

My gf was with me last year and wanted to shoot a deer. She could not handle the recoil of my 30-06 So I borrowed a 223 from a friend. We arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon so we shot it to make sure it was zeroed in. Walked the hundred yards to the stand and there were three does chowing down we spooked walking in.

Last year I hunted my place during the week. About 4:30 in the afternoon They set off a line of blast in the Caliche pit 1500 yards away. I was thinking my hunt was over. 5 pm the deer started coming out of the brush.

Just a quick story and this is apples to oranges, but last night was in the blind waiting for a hog with thermal gear and saw two bucks come out. They were reluctant to get in the feeder and it turns out they were staying clear because mr piggy showed up soon after. Both bucks were within 60 yards of the feeder when I popped the hog from about 15 yards. Both deer were still standing there after the first shot. I put two more into the hog and still one of the bucks stuck around and wanted to get into the feeder pen bad, but just didn't like the smell of the dead hog. It took me grunting and snorting for him finally move on, but easily 20 minutes or more.

It was dark so that makes a difference, but I am not sure shooting makes as big a deal as we make it out to. Just so we are clear, no one around my lease shoots other than the occasional deer shot or coyote shot. The neighbors don't target practice so these deer aren't acclimatized to shooting. For all they know, it's just a bad thunderstorm.

It is extremely rare that I fire a practice shot at my lease out of respect for local landowners. When I do, it's just one shot to confirm my scope wasn't knocked off after dropping or bumping my rifle against something.

I have never known a landowner, and especially those with livestock, that welcomed all the shooting that comes with hunting season. I mean, would it bother you if there were a lot of bullets buzzing in the area around your home?

I don't mind it. It just moves more deer my way. And it means they're not hunting as seriously as I am.
