I got a Bluetick hound a few months ago and everything is going pretty well, except when she is in the kennel (inside) she can go on and on barking. Enough so it can be hard to sleep. I know that are lots of options out there, any recommendations?

We use the Dog Watch eFence to enclose our horde, and it works very well, so when we needed to modify behavior in the pack, we looked back to Dog Watch, and bought these. Big Leash Trainer You can control up to two dogs with vibe, shock burst, or continuous shock. They have helped me to break them from barking at deer, and now chasing the deer is my focus. The dogs respond very well to a vibe warning, and when they get forgetful, a shock burst turns them around and heads them home. Rechargeable batteries and long range too. The DogWatch guys are great fellows. They trained our dogs to mind the fence way back when we put it in, so we asked the trainer to come back out and train the dogs on the eCollar. They started minding the eCollar that same day.

Dogtra. $89. I had one from petco made for little dogs and my dogs never showed any sign of feeling it. The Dogtra got them to STFU. We have 3 of them now.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I know that are lots of options out there, any recommendations? I have DT Systems bark collar that is nearly 25 years old but it still works great! If it goes off on a dog for barking, you would think that the dog had his head stuck in a bear trap. It will break them from barking in one session. All I have to do now is hang it on the fence of the kennel to shut up a dog who has worn it before. Believe it or not, I have setters that don't bark now in the pen because of this collar and setters are notorious for yapping constantly. Plus, it does not make a dog collar shy of his regular e-collar.

We went through two sets of bark collars and could not understand why the did not work until we tested and they were broke. Cheap is cheap and you get what you pay for.

We use the PetSafe collar and it has been great. Jake (85# collie mix) gets about 3 months per battery and wears it M-F while the wife and I are both at work. The first bark gets a beep, then the second a mild shock, the each subsequent a little hotter. He respects it, but will bark through it if he is really upset, like someone knocking at the door or in the driveway (which we want him to do).
We all need to practice Whoa more.

The SportDOG collars are you best bet. I don't recommend SportDOG on anything beyond bark collars, but they did their bark collars right. It starts at a low level and increases intensity every time your dog barks. Resets after 30 seconds.
