My girlfriend bought a cinnamon broom and it is amazing how powerful the scent is. I wonder if anyone has ever tried to put that in a pop up blind to mask any human smells that might sneak out.
Curious to hear THF's thoughts.

I wouldn't put anything foreign in a blind. Keep your blind downwind of feeder.

I put out a berry flavor/scent feed block in a feed pen and it amazed me how much that smell scared the carp out of my deer. I wouldn't do it. Besides I think they would still smell you anyway.

I dont think I'd do it. How often do you think a deer has ever smelled cinnamon? I'm guessing not often.

Wisdom.^^^^^ I don't even use apple scented corn, great sales tactic by stores, but how many apple orchards have you hunted near in Texas? IMO, You'd be better of cutting fresh cedar boughs, or making a brine from cedar, Or just hunt the wind and don't even worry about it.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Had a guy at work say the same thing about the apple corn, "there are no orchards where I hunt" I asked him how many corn fields there were around him "none" he said. lol

I have used the little pine/cedar scent air freshners for vehicles in ground blinds and stands for years. I put one in each blind in the spring and put a new one in about Sept and then Nov. I also put one in my ground blinds for bow hunting when I put one up. That scent is normal to them when they are around the blinds. I use a new one when I am setting in the bow blind then put it in a ziplock to reuse the next hunt. I know guys that put a new scented room air freshner in their blinds every 3 months. The deer get used to the blind smell, they will get used to whatever smell is in it everyday. I would rather have apple flavor or any scented corn when corning roads that way the deer can smell it to find it much quicker. I move my corn around from time to time if hogs become an issue. I can move corn and watch deer stop, raise their nose to smell and head straight to the corn. I am sure new crop corn has a natural fresh corn smell also, but most corn down here is railed or hauled in. A lot is last years crop sometimes.

Far more corn grown in gardens and fields here vs apples. Mash a corn kernel, then mash an acorn, you will find them similar. Even plain corn takes time for deer when 1sdt introduced and it isn't even preferred.

A guy I work with says he catches a bunch of stink bugs on his tree in the backyard and puts them in and old sock. When he gets to his blind, he smashes the hell out of the sock. I'm skeptical but at least it's a natural scent.

Hahaha. I prefer Windsong by prince Matchabelli. Throw in some summers eve and it's a 'hodown'.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Interesting stuff.
It is true that cinnamon is hardly native Texas, let alone the continent.

Ain't enough cover scent in the world to mask the smell of Marlboro red smoke, coffee, and possibly booz from the night before.
I have to hunt the wind, it's the only thing that has ever worked for me.

Well from my experience on the apple scented corn, I went with my brother in to his friends ranch down here in Premont Tx area and had a trailer full of the stuff. So we get to the place and we start riding around to try and load the feeders and I look thru the mirror and I see the deer coming out following the trailer, now mind you this isn't a high fenced area and this was the first time he had taken the apple scented corn out there. We start laughing as we were both saying how crazy this was. But that has been our experience with the scented corn.
MAGA!

I knew a lady outside of Evant Texas, she I would say was an deer activist, didn't believe in shooting them (even went to the expense to HF her property, just to "save" them). I rode around with her a few times when she took out feed, didn't matter what it was, the deer came running to within 30 yards. We once stood up on a huge platform she had built that looks like an old fire ranger tower and tossed watermelons and cantaloupe off it to the below waiting deer, it was hard to do and not hit one.
I'd say it has a lot to do with the conditioning of the deer to their area and LO as much as anything.
