Just put a ground blind out today. Should I wait a few days before I hunt out or would y'all hung out of it tonight?

Hunt it - I put one out Sunday morning after the hunt and hunted it in the evening. I had deer come in but not in range. I don't think it was the blind it was just the path they were on. Monday morning had a doe eating a pile of hand corn 10 yds in front of me before legal and never spooked. She ran off just before legal when a young buck came in to test the water. She wanted none of it and he looked for more receptive does in the other direction.

Killed my first doe with a bow sitting in one that had only been up a few hours.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Depends on the area of the state. Seen them turn inside out the first time they saw a new placed pop-up blind and other times not pay to much attention to it. If you have brushed in very well then I would have hunted tonight.

In my experience with pop ups, I've had same day setup that produced a kill and pre scouted setups produce the same...but also have had plenty of same day set ups result in me getting busted. I should include I hunt public land and deal with paranoid deer. I will also note that my same day set up I made darn sure no deer was going to come in from behind the pop up and I had the outline of the roof broken up with limbs and brush.

I've noticed that once they get used to them they get tuned into when there is a change, like when the windows are open or the shoot thru mesh is gone. We leave ours in a ready to shoot state once the season gets going.
Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

I threw a feeder and ground blind up and had deer the next day at it.. one little rinky dink buck was the only one skeptical. The rest of the deer didn't care, hopefully I'm knocking this 8 pt. Out this weekend. They only come out in the mornings so I luckily have this weekend of weather permitting. How do you think people kill deer in the forest without a tree climber.. Throw a ground blind down and hunt.
Hunting in magnolia would be better in a gated community.

Ok. So I put the blind up and I have hunted it the last two mornings. Have not seen anything. Before I put the popup out I was seeing something ever time I went. I have not seen anything. Did I screw up by putting this blind out?

My guess would be yes. Put up a TC and see if they are hitting the feeder at night. That will answer your question. Different areas, the deer will react differently. Where I have hunted in South Texas, they will not go near the blind for a week or more if you do not brush it in very well.

My experience with pop up blinds in south texas is a negative one. Ive had better luck leaning up against a tree with some ground cover.

I would leave it up and feed extra corn around a large area from close to farther out. That will let the deer eat their way closer and get comfortable.

I put a blind up on a Friday evening. I hunted it the next day. The deer were very jumpy, would not come within range, and were blowing constantly. They didnt seem to settle back into their routine for 4 or 5 days. The Wednesday after I put it out, I got a 160" deer.

I slammed my blind against the side of a tree line and backed up against some brush. They paid it no attention. Give it a few days.. I didn't go out to mine for a week just so it had time to breathe.. they seemed to pay it no attention at all. You are spraying down good ehh?
