I'm a life long hunter but this is my first season in Texas. Also my first time with hogs on the menu. I got a small lease in the northern part of Jack County on the Clay county line. Been getting some OK bucks on the camera and some hogs. This is the biggest two hogs so far. How big are these hogs? The fist one is the largest and for reference the legs on the feeder are 5ft. First post at THF also

The pictures makes him look bigger than his actual size. The feeder is in the background with the pig standing close to the camera.

Welcome to the forum. I'd say the first one would go about 250#
Get you a measuring tape that you can wrap around the hog once dead. Wrap it around the chest of the pig and take the number of inches, multiply by 10 then subtract 200. That will give you the weight. I think that's the right formula

I always think hogs are smaller than they turn out to be. Shoot one thinking its about 100 lbs and it turns out to be 150+
That looks like a 150-175 lb hog to me.
It's hell eatin em live

Yes, RickyM, that is correct: Heart girth X10, -200 = approx. weight. He is big enough for a Dirt Nap !!

I look at him and the only thing I think of is he would make the perfect AR-10 pin cushion. I would make it a personal challenge to put as many bullets in him, or through him, before he fell to the ground as possible. Mag dump would be appropriate on that pig.
A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.

Thanks for the input folks. See i would have thought 300 so yeas the pic makes him look big.
My next question is will i ever see a hog in the daylight as the year goes on?
I see all you guys posting feeder pics of alot of pigs. Because i am getting only as many as 2 and boars does that mean sounders of sow's and little ones wont come in or does it really vary?

They are both right about pighundred(© 2015 Mickey Moose) pounds. When you shoot them, put them on a scale for a more accurate number.
My botnet is bigger than yours.

Had set up just like that one by the creek at edge of tree line... Lightning hit few trees & some big limbs fell all around it.... Moved set up over ta edge of food plot... Hogs came rooted around under one leg... Knocked it over 3nights in a row.... Took ol cable had laying around, went from two trees. Feeder between the two trees... See were others drove T-post or re-bar at base of legs ta keep hogs from tipping over feeder...

Update: I seem to have hogs at the feeders now about every night along with deer. Some picks have deer and hogs in the same pictures. I have rebar 2.5-3ft on each leg. So far not digging around the legs. Seems solid at his point. Also got 2 different groups of 3 70lb or so pigs but still no full family units. Which is weird to me because I saw a sounder of 30+ on Friday night literally just across the gravel road from my lease. I thought it was interesting that every single one of them was completely black with no variation at all.

Have ya gotten any more pic's of the big hog in OP ? Had two boars show up on cam in August.... Went poured corn out at edge of tree line by creek were hogs came out after crossing creek, spread it along trail walk from blind... At little less than 20 yrds in front of blind, piled a 5quart ice cream pail of corn.. First night sat, after reviewing pic's hogs were at tree line when first got out their... After donating pint of blood ta mosketoes... Heard movement, slowly stood up, hogs were at corn pile.. Turned on camera ta video, the screan was dark, turned on laser, & it bounced all over tall grass.. Hogs left... Hogs 1 ... Next day piled more corn & cleared a shooting lane... Let it settle couple days... Eased twards blind, again was late arived, hogs already at corn pile... Put camera down, one shot with 55gr hp unlucky was down, & lucky got away.... Due ta health problems, dull knife, mosketoes.... Left hog were it lay... Got pic's of buzzards & spooked off a yote when went ta pull SD card from cam... Deer were at minneral blocks morning after took hog... Yotes dragged unlucky off.. Got 1 pic of lucky day after in early morning... Piled more corn... Haven't seen hog since... Lots of pics of doe's at corn.... Best Wishes....

Answer ta your next question, tis, guessing ya will see some hogs during daylight hours.. might be on game cam, if ya got one... Don't have the hog problems here like a lot of other places... Each county is different... Had a Thread on here, asking which counties have hog problems , & stated my ta-go-to place for hogs was a WMA down the road... Thread didn't go to far... have gun will travel ... Don't have ta be English Major ta figure out every one looking for that FREE HOG HUNT ... Tis all about the culling, that's cool, most have me on ignorance list, huntsolo don't look for handouts... Finding hogs at WMA always been easy part, work begins back backing them out for en & chillen... What i've learned as a newbe on HF some people complain about hog problems, others see hogs as the other wild game... Have seen this county go from 25+years of not enough deer for a doe tag, buck only ta a 4 deer county... Cooler weather should see some hogs sitting at deer stand, so hang in thar... Best wishes...
