Crow are fun to hunt and it does not take alot of practice. I use the "Fighting Crows" tape with decoys. Got 2 plastic decoys and one Mojo Crow for my birthday one year as gag gifts, but the funny thing is I tried them and they really work like a charm. You can also use a mouth call but calling that much will wear you out.

I do a lot of crow hunting here in the DFW area. In addition to the motion deks, one needs a good ecaller such as the new FoxPro FX3 loaded with crow sounds to be effective. Full head to toe camo is also needed to be successful with these smart birds. Would you like to go sometime?

There is one crow in particular that I'd like to get in my crosshairs. He follows me everywhere I hunt and sits in a near by tree and announces my presence to all the animals in the area. This affects my ability to score on trophy deer as well as turkeys and other game. I know it is the same crow.
He is black with black eyes, black beak and black legs and feet. He always has the same look on his face so I am sure it's him, following me from place to place, year after year just to accomplish his mission of keeping me from enjoying my hunting. I sur hope he doesn't figure out that I fish also!!!
You guys don't think I am being paranoid do you?

I actually shot one with my .444 Marlin out of a deer stand one time because he would not shut up. After about 30 minutes I gave up and shot him.

I fought Him, ran from Him, thought I could do it all without Him, but when I finally turned to Him, He opened his arms and took me in.

I actually got out to go crow hunting in Wheelock, Tx today and really had alot of fun. When we first pulled up we were covered in crows and had to big flocks come in which we took a couple from. Then it was over within 30 min and there were no birds left. Anybody have experience with this?

Welcome to THF, Gadget Bob

Crows are smart and hearty to boot. I read somewhere once that if the world was to end that only two creatures would still survive: Roaches and crows. I believe it.

Hope you enjoy the site. Lots of great ideas and good folks here.

Basically I have spots all the DFW area, generally out to 50 miles or so. These are mostly pecan orchards where the crows are a menace to the crop. Unfortunately for me, I hunt them fairly regularly and therefore the crows become "educated" and don't respond well to calls/decoys. I am always looking for new spots to keep them guessing...

Hello Crow Huntin' Brutha,

I use and recommend the new FoxPro FX3 with their crow sounds along with the Bob A. custom sounds they sell. I have had the best luck with their Crow Duet and Bob A's Young Crow Combo.

The old standard JS Owl and Crow Fight is another great crow sound. I have this loaded on my FX3 and it works very well.

Check out www.gofoxpro.com and www.crowbusters.com for more info.

Good Luck,

Gadget Bob

How loud does your speakers work though right now i use old boomboxes for crows and they work fine until u get 100 yds out and can not hear them anymore.

The FX3 is pretty loud by itself. I would say it's definitely louder than my Western River Predation and maybe even louder than my twin speaker Lohrman CD eCaller. When I plug the optional FoxPro PowerHorn speaker in, it's no contest. I would like to get the new FoxPro SnoCrowPro someday, it would (with all 4 of their speakers attached) call in crow (or geese) for the full 360 degrees and probably for a mile or so out.

Good Luck,

Gadget Bob

Perhaps the Western Rivers Predation MP3 caller (at around $200) or maybe even the Lohrman CD caller (8 D cell model) from Sportsman Warehouse at about $85 bucks. The FX3 will do more, but both of these models should get you started.

Good Luck,

I've also used the FX3 by FoxPro to call in crows. It was my first time out and I was surprised at how quickly they came in. There was about 100 of them circling and I didn't get a shot because I was just an observer. But what a sight! Can't wait until I go out this year--with my own gun!!!
