If true, Things like this just piss me off. It gives all firearms owners and hunters a black eye. I just don't understand some idiots. The sad thing is that the eagles have just started showing up around here of the past 5 years. As much as I hunt, fish and drive on and around this lake I've only see one or two sighting of bald eagles per year. http://txktoday.com/news/bald-eagle-with-possible-gunshot-wound-found-at-wright-patman/ The worse part is that if this bird was in fact shot there is no doubt the shooter knew it was a bald eagle... When you see one in the wild you know immediately what it is, even in low light situations so there is no "I thought it was a crow" excuses here. See update below, turns out the eagle most likely was NOT shot.

Thats a shame because it is cool to find a Bald Eagle in TX. There used to be some on the lake here in Granbury and I see this nest now and then west of Chico.

We're starting to get quite a few of them around Rayburn & the river systems. Apparently they like hog carcasses & possible stillborn calves.

This one landed right in front of my deer stand a couple of years back. East TX.

Article was updated that it was not a shotgun wound but likely caused by powerline

I have been lucky to have seen an Eagle on 3 different occasions over a couple of year period. There has been a nesting pair in South Texas around Lake Corpus Christi for the last few years now.

They updated the story and said that the injury was powerline related, not gunshot. Thankfully

Have seen a few of them in Mississippi, Texas and lots in Montana. Majestic birds for sure. Well not so majestic looking when they are chowing down on roadkill.

Use to see them a bunch as a kid canoeing the Brazos below PK.

We generally have one or two a year come up the Colorado River to our place in western Mills county in January or February. Three years ago we had a Golden Eagle come with them. It dwarfed the Bald Eagles. Beautiful creatures.

There are at least 12 of them that raise babies every year on Lake Palestine.
When I was a kid I hunted with a rancher in Fort Stockton that shot every Golden Eagle he saw on sight. He said he had seen them Kill a newborn calf righ after birth and eat it. I don't blame him. They Were bad for his business.

It dwarfed the Bald Eagles. Beautiful creatures. I've only seen one of those and it was sitting on a boulder in Colorado then flew over me. You're right, that's some giant yardbird.

I only time that I've ever seen one in the wild was several years ago on the north end of Lake Lavon.

There's a bunch of bald eagles at Texoma every winter. I've seen them eat more sea gulls and coots than I have fish. A few years ago there was a golden out there. It was a giant bird.

They are a big powerful bird and very cool see, I have seen bald eagles kill off over a hundred head of sheep one winter in De Beque Colorado back in the 90's and have also seen them kill antelope here in Wyoming.
They do this by flying over the top of the herd and swooping down at them to get the herd to running around and after a while one of the animals will drop out of the herd and the eagles will dive bomb it and hit in the neck area. I'm guessing they are braking the neck. The times I've seen it happen it normally didn't more than five or ten minutes from the time I noticed it happening for the eagles to have an animal on the ground and eating it.
It is cool to see unless your the rancher loosing the livestock.

Same, but wasn't a kid, late teenager though. Also would see the Ospery's and more often. The BE's have been staying overwinter around Whitney for many years, used to see them frequently. When we lived in Colorado, they where common and in the winter there where tons of them when the northern clans came in. Beautiful bird to watch.

First time I ever saw one in the wild was on Rayburn in about 1982. I was fishing with a buddy and we both thought that it had to be something else but finally we got a good look. The population has been steadily growing and now it's pretty common to see them around there.

I b!tc# constantly about Hawks up at our Lease In Oklahoma but one day we were headed down a backroad and came up on a Bald Eagle sitting in a tree, man that sucker was pretty. I told him, you go ahead and help yourself to the Quail buddy, take all you want. What a majestic creature. Have seen some out on the water at Cedar Creek Lake but not from very close.

It is weird to see them in AK and Canada sitting around carrion and feeding on it. I wish I hadn't seen that. They are truly majestic, but at the same time they are the buzzards of the North country.

Pretty common to see on Lake Conroe, there is a nesting pair on the property where i keep my boat stored, the guy that owns the place sends out emails every year letting us all know the babies are up and out of the nest if you want to come see them.
