SON OF A...! That has me written all over it! We shot the MK II today. 5.0 Mils of holdover for 150 yards from a 50 yard zero. She had a blast!

I have CZ's....they're not in the same class as the Winchester model 52's. For a classic bolt gun that all others try to copy....it's the 52's.

Hands down the sako quad. Walter WORD !!!!!!! You didn't mention your budget, my Sako quad is very accurate topped with Meopta 6-18... Might be a tad heavy I tell ya, for a 7 year old I would go with the Ruger American with the short stock and short barrel. _Plenty accurate but lightweight. As you know "bang for buck" and "tack driver" rarely go together. Best bang for buck, next up would be one of the CZ's

I have a Ruger American that is very accurate and very light. It is the shorter of the two barrels offered. I also have had a CZ and prefer and it was a great and very accurate rifle. The CZ 455 has the ability to interchange barrels to an 17 HMR if that was an interest down the road.

My Mark II is a tack driver and I love it. I could head shoot squirrels at 125 yards all day long with CCI Standard. I hated the original stock so I put a Boyd's stock on it. And the threaded barrel was a bonus.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I have an early CZ 455 Varmint in .17 HMR that's an absolute tackdriver. I have no doubt one in .22LR or Mag. would be just as accurate.

That's awesome! That's what I'm talkin bout.
Lots of money for a .22lr, but it looks to be worth it.

the optic puts it over the top but i had it extra, the Manners stock is nice not going to lie but I got if for 200 bucks.....(steal) with that said I think the boyds tacticool would be very serviceable.. my gun is sporting a factory barrel, only re-crowned when treaded... its all about the ammo

Which ammo, by the way? I've read a bit into it, but not enough. Rick, another CZ man!

The CZ I tuned up liked AutoMatch, but loved Wolf MT. They were both MOA or better at 50.
The 10/22's will be more picky about ammo. My Win 52 will shoot just about any ammo MOA at 100 yards. That right there makes me crazy.

Last weekend I zeroed the MKII on paper at 50 yards. It had been over a year and a half since I had shot it, and I had forgotten how dang much fun it is to see bullet holes appear on white paper and how much fun it is to shoot steel "long range" with a .22 lr. It is the perfect tool to teach so much of the fundamentals to a new shooter of any age, especially kids. Yes I have a Mil scope on my .22 lr

My LGS has both the Tacticool and the regular 16" TB CZ 455 in stock so I got to check them out. I may have to buy one of them. What is the trigger like on the CZs?

The trigger on the CZ I tweaked didn't register with me. I guess that means it was pretty good.

Are you dead set on a bolt action? I've shot several Henry's that friends have bought for their kids in the past 5-6 years and all of them were nice shooters.
My personal favorite trainer is my old Winchester Model 1890 gallery model. Pump action, .22 short only, octagon barrel. Over 100 years old, don't know how many thousands of rounds through it but it still can thread a needle. Taught my son and countless other kids to shoot with it. The hard part will be finding one.

Yes I am dead set on a bolt action. I want to build in the muscle memory for her. So when I move her over to a bolt action .223 she is not in foreign territory, then she will get a 6.5mm bolt action.
