Anyone ever change a water pump on a duramax?
How bad is it? From what I hear its a beach.

It can be a chore. A special holding tool is very helpful to break the bolt on the harmonic balancer it fits into the flywheel teeth to keep the crank from turning. You will need other gaskets and o rings as well as the pump. as well as new thermostats.

D-max has 2 t-stats both have been changed already, whats the need to change them again?

You should be fine then. there is is a pipe frome the water pump to the bottom of therm hsg that will need new orings it can be tricky getting it together without tearing them. Silacone spray helps.

I use a Orielly wp and seals from gm I use wp gasket from gm because its metal

What year model is the truck? The earlier years (01-05) were offered with and without the water pump housing. The later models only come with the housing and are quite a bit more expensive.
