Definitely warm for my area, but will try to manage what I have to deal with. I Already assume they will have some long travel routes then.

Sounds like sandals may work on this trip! I will take thermals, but probably wont need them...

I am debating holding off new boots. If it does hod through at 30s-50s don't think I will need super warm gear

Take some extra warm stuff "just in case", Sounds like you can get by with a pair or two of socks, but I have seen pop up storms that would make you think you're in the arctic.

My concern is my really warm socks are uncomfortable in the boots. Very tight. I may just get a less cushioned sock which should create some room

OH yeah, should be just right, The Doloras temps will be warmer than where y'all are, I'd almost bet you get nights in the 20's-30's

Dolores sits at 6,936 ft (thanks wiki) Should be cool nights and beautiful days up at the elevation you fellas will be at, as far as camping, looks to be a great time. Should be more than average elk up high I would guess, which is also good. At least they will stream through rather than a river and gone.

You fellas should do pretty good. My highest hunt that I have figured so far, will be around 8200' iirc down to around 5-6k, but these are areas I have learned will hold elk when they have been pressured by bow and ML hunters, even better if it's cold.

There should have been good pressure put on them North and East of where ya'll are hunting,,,I'd make sure my knifes are charp!

It was quite warm last year. Only got below freezing at night a couple times.

I think we're heading out the 15th, A. B. The plan is to be there the morning of the 16th to stake out a campsite. Opening morning will be the 17th. Can't wait.

From my personal experience, the weather forecast is a little more accurate when you look at Rico's location. The latest date on weather.com is the 7th and it shows highs in the low 50's and lows in the lower 40's. Im getting super pumped about the trip and cant wait!!!!

I was 8-10k and I had frost on the ground in NM one morning,,, 4 hours south of yall. One bluebird morning is all it takes. I actually used a snythic hoodie a bunch.
