If I need a lead sled, then I'm shooting to much gun. I want to shoot my 300 win just like I would in a tree, butt plate to shoulder. IMO

We have one. I use it if I have several to sight in. It's a pain for just one or two. It will help set-up precision rifles and high caliber guns too, take some flinch away.

It's also good for kids to get a first taste from, but it adds LOP to anything, os that's a trade off.

It definitely takes shooter error way down and lets you focus on the gun.

They are not real adjustible to mil-type guns/pistol grips etc. It can work with the Dual Frame Technology version that we have, but it's a pain.

Stuart's Sight-Vise are very good stable rests for bench work, but offer very limited recoil assitance.

I want one just to sight my rifles in good. The fact that it helps with recoil is just a bonus IMO.

Well worth the money. My bro and I bought one for my father and we love it. He was getting frustrated because hes getting older and couldnt keep the crosshairs on the target. It also is useful for the kiddos.

I use one for taking as much human error out as possible. Once zero'd, I always shoot from sand bags after that. On a 3 or 5 shot groupd, I want to know "was it just me?" Taking that error out is important at least for me.

Caldwell has a new one out called the Fire Controll, really great adjustments, just picked one up yesterday after waiting 2 months, will go tomorrow to sight in a couple.

Keep in mind that your zero can shift as soon as you take it out of the sled and start shouldering it. Recoil, harmonics and sight picture changes from sled to shoulder, bench to prone, etc. POI shift may not be a factor to you though if you are not going past 100 yards.

I didn't know that. If so, it seems pointless to go to the range then to the blind. Are you talking about pin point accuracy or?

How much change is to be expected from range shooting at 200 yds and then hunting at 200?

Not doubting you.

Yeah more pinpoint. You just need to experiment and see if it does and how much. If your group only shifts 1/2 an MOA then it wouldn't really matter at 200 if shooting a deer. But it could be an easy miss on a prairie dog at that range.

I'm not saying don't use one. Just be aware your POI can shift is all. If it is a "pie plate at 100" kind of thing, readers should probably just skip over anything I write..lol

Definitely if someone is shooting knathairs they will have fine tune there own. As optics improve, the scope-shooter relationship becomes less a part of the equation.

There are many that argue you can't sight in for someone else, due to the same reasons. However the gun is a machine, that is very very repeatable. The operator error accounts for about 99.999999 percent of all discrepancies after that.

Using the sled is good for dialing things in on the range. It does require a different posture and grip than most would ever use, so there will be slight differences.

With good optics, anyone MOA shooter can shoot MOA with a firearm set-up for someone else. So the differences are less than that.

NTRP I would love to come see your range and operation. Always looking for the change to learn something new! Where are you located? I looked at your website but coudn't find anything.

I added more to my profile. Not trying to be elusive, just not used to the forum's software. I'm about an hour away from you in McKinney. I should probably update the website...lol I need feedback like that. I have more pics and stuff but I don't want to hijack the thread away from the original topic.
