last year there was a lot of complaints about not seeing deer in Eastland Co and vicinity I thought I share some good news ... they're back they were always there, just went nocturnal... this year they're coming out more often during day

I live in NE Eastland county and I'm seeing more deer than last year. I see two sets of twin fawns regularly, never saw any fawns last year at all. I saw pregnant does last year, then saw them afterward without fawns. Last year was brutally dry with very little browse, then this year had big rains in May and everything grew like crazy. Not seeing as many bucks, maybe because they have so much cover to hide in. A lot of doves around too.
Past performance is the best predictor of future behavior.

Very good to see. Though we are in S Stephens county, we have seen the same behaviour over the last 2 years. Heading out this weekend to get the feeders and cameras up, hopefully we get the same.

Eastland and Stphens county line here. Just starting to hit feeders as things have dried up a bit. Good fawn crop from our surveys. Oaks are loaded with acorns though, may be a bit difficult when they start to fall. We set a few blinds closer to the oak forest this time with no feeders. We'll see what happens.

Never thought of putting a feeder in a tank before I know, the early rains, think I saw that photo during the storms iirc Y'all are seeing acorns??? I'm just a bit East of y'all in Wise co. I have looked a bit and haven't seen one, may need to go out and recon again today Last year we had a major acorn crop, small, but cover the ground. Which was surprising since we have been in a 4 year drought.

A few miles over the eastland stephens county line off of 1852 here.
Filled the feeders this weekend, checked cameras. We've got some pics of bucks right at dark which is better than the usual 3am time, plenty of hogs.
There are acorns on the tree's but they are very small which is good. Not sure they can do much more growing. We're absolutely covered up in broom weed though. Should help the fawn survival rate.

Post Oaks or Live Oaks dropping Acorns? Post Oaks all over also 5 pear trees loaded with fruits - they have eaten the low hanging ones and can see a distinct browse line

speaking of fawns, this is the first time in 4 years that I see fawns on cams I can positively say 4 distinct fawns have a twin that have been trained on coming right after feeder goes off,,,, they will stick around and wait for feeder to go off. I hog hunt this past weekend , there was a buck standing/resting outside pen for a good hour waiting for feeder to go off. I've only seen this when I hunted in Hill Country Season is looking good where I am at, hope they're as good for you guys as well

Post Oaks or Live Oaks dropping Acorns? A mixture MathMan, post, live and scattered white oaks. Going out this weekend to scout the forest edge to see what's dropped. If they have developed the shell time is close. Fortunately 2 feeders we replaced to a new location are on the edge of the oak Mott. I am hoping that with El Niņo and cooler than expected temps they will drop sooner and sour sooner. Never really can know, but worth a shot.

Just NW of Cisco for us. I need to get out and check my cameras. Filled all of our feeders about a month ago. Hopefully we have some deer activity as well.
