I got a Go Pro sports cam this year. used it for dove hunting last weekend. It took some great video, but the wide angle lens makes it look like I am shooting at mosquitoes at 100 yards. I was wondering if anyone knew of a camera that attaches to the gun barrel that has a narrow angle or optically zoomed lens that would be better to capture wing shots? I have looked around and all I can find is barrel cams with wide angle lenses.

Your first post, sorry, I can't help you but you might post this in Optical, Equipment, or migratory sections and get a better response.

thanks guys. I made a video of my dove hunt. It turned out nice but you have to watch the video on a large screen to even see the doves. Here is the video. Dove hunting 2015

If you want to stick with the GoPro, get flicking through the manual. I don't have mine to hand, but somewhere in the options of the camera you can change the field of view. It will reduce quality I believe but it is still good enough for what anyone would want. Wide, medium and narrow should be the selections. May have to change the filming quality from 1080 to something lower to see the medium and narrow options. YouTube is your friend if you can't find it.

Yes you change the view to be a more "normal" view. To my knowledge a GP2 will reset to wide angle every time you turn it on. But GP3 and above you only have to set it once.

What you are talking about is called "Digital Zoom". It is nothing more then digital cropping of the image which result in a very poor quality video. Those setting are not actually doing annoying but magnifying the existing 170 degree view. It is not changing the focus depth of the actually lens. In my OP you will see that specifically used the term, "Optically Zoomed Lens".

I would have cropped that feeder out of the dove hunt video.

Try googling after market GoPro replacement lens. I never purchased one but they had several different options like 2x-5x zoom, micro and night vision.

I would have cropped that feeder out of the dove hunt video. Why? I hunt deer in the same place. Archery season is just around the corner. Besides, I have not even put any corn in it yet.
