Anyone know of a good taxidermist near Temple? I'd like to get the skin tanned and mounted on a board.

He looks mad. I don't think he want's to go.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

If that's a prairie rattler, it's huge.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.
Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Thanks for the referrals!
Yeah, that's a prairie rattler. At my FILs place in amarillo. Ran into 3 working fence Sunday. I had it held down with a fence post and figured it was safer to step on it until help arrived.
I killed about a 5 footer a few years ago but wild west taxidermy in midland closed shop suddenly and I never got it back.

Buddy had his 5 foot rattler done near Austin. Shot it less than 10 feet from my Dove stool. I'll ask him.
My uncle got bit in Amarillo on his wrist. Has 12 inch scar where they cut him open to drain it. Hate them things.

Yeah that looks like a mean, green prairie rattler. If so that is a HOSS of a prairie rattler!

I agree. You almost never see Prairie Rattlers that big.

Its not hard to do it yourself...cut it down the belly ..clip the skin at neck...get it started coming off cleanly ...grab skin and pull down..clip stubborn bit at the vent (butt)...tack meat side up on board ...scrape with dull knife....let air dry....untack and turn over ...use neatsfoot oil or something like it on scale side...ive used mane and tail on them because it has a high glycerin and alcahol content ...apply whatever you use against the scales (if scales are pointing down rub the preserver up) ....let preserver sit on skin a couple of days ...wipe off...good to go....cut off belly scales or leave em...done.

Randy Pistole at Top Gun in Holland is the best around. No one in the area can touch his quality, no one.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.
