 NFA item trust submissions......

I'm close to the 4 month mark waiting for my next can, I just keep thinking about how inefficient this process is. I file with a trust for convenience purposes. I can understand for the first time a trust is submitted needing to look over things with a fine tooth comb but the ATF could really save some time and streamline things if a trust has already been submitted and reviewed previously. There really is no need to review everything if there are no changes to the trust other than items added. That way items could be expedited and overall times would get shorter since the number of applications needing thorough review would go down.....ok rant over, I just really wish this process could be streamlined, it would be better for all involved.
Oh and we need a NFA forum.

To be honest I doubt they even read the trust. My guess is they have someone sitting in a cubicle with a stack of about 1,000 applications.....they go through probably 10 per day because I'm sure there is no incentive for working harder or smarter. It takes a long time because of the volume.
Oh yeah, and think about your average government agency and their extreme inefficiency and what you get is a four month wait.

Or they could follow the 2nd Amendment and do away with the NFA.

What if during the application process for your second silencer they decided they didn't want to approve of your trust, what would be the status of your first silencer and stamp?

Yes, its pitiful! A application should take no time to do. Im sure they do a basic nics check, but then it takes some goon lawyer who gets payed way to much to look thru the trust. Im a couple months into another suppressor also, it was only taking three months when i sent the application in, but of course the times have been growing and growing. Big bloated goverment at its finest!

Lol you guys complaining about 3-4 month wait time don't know what waiting is. I waited 1 year and 3 months for my first suppressor and sbr stamps. Talk about being pissed off at the process.
I know what you're saying though this process is so flawed it ain't funny. We shouldn't have to jump through any o these hoops for something that makes our guns hearing safe. Our government is ran by a bunch of idiots.

Times have dramatically been better . I too waited a year on my first can .... Quit ur cryin ... Lol
And yes they do look at the trust , at least now they do . Just had a form 4 sent back for a trust I have two items on all ready ...

Ok, good comments so far.....since I know the one thing that motivates the government is getting their money, you would have to assume more submissions if the waiting time was quicker. More submissions equals more money for them. You are missing the point. The government would have to fire people if they became more efficient. They're actually motivated to be inefficient. They're obviously not worried about missing out on items. Look at how many folks just on this forum pay big money and deal with long waits just for the right to pay even bigger money for the items. I'm not sure how you guys afford it, but the wait times aren't an issue for me - the prices are. Lastly, you're assuming the government wants to make it easier on gun owners to get gun stuff. That's just not the case.

Big money? Suppressors are actually pretty reasonably priced, starting at just over 200$ for .22 cans.

One thing I don't agree with is us needing an NFA forum. I don't need something else to click on here and it fits here and makes sense to me.

I waited a year for my first suppressor. 4 months is nothing.
And suppressors are NOT reasonably priced. In some countries they are $100 out the door and you can get them anywhere. They are useless without a gun so no need to regulate a suppressor.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

When was that updated? AFIK they stopped assigning agents by region and brought in extra help for a short time to get through a 80,000+ backlog of applications in the first couple months of this year, but from what I have been told be local dealers is they are back to business as usual with agents assigned to regions... But I'm willing to be wrong on that...

I recently submitted my first Form 1 for my SBR build. Should I call and request status or just wait it out? Id like to know asap if there is an issue with my form or trust so I can get it fixed and I hear they notify you by snail mail if there is a problem. I submitted on June 26th.
