I wish I could have rolled around sleeveless like that in Iraq. I have so much respect for the guys who fought the earlier wars. I couldn't imagine some of the stuff they went through.

Ok Marvin fess up. That be your bad AZZ? Yes, this was in about July of 1968, we were on the sands in I Corp about 10 clicks west of Camp Evans. I was the machine gun Squad Leader, as to the pack, ammo, water, grenades etc., it probably weighed in around 60 pounds. The gear, would include 4 canteens of water, 32 magazines with 18 rounds in each one, frag grenades, 1 or more smoke grenades. Up to 3 days of rations, poncho, poncho liner, web gear, compass, 2 bandages. Part of a can of machinegun ammo or a radio battery. Plus personal gear and clean socks, along with a camera, film and anything else we wanted for comforts. Bottle of Tabasco sauce, I also carried a Teflon skillet, with a heat tab we could make C rats really good, not just edible.
Combat Infantryman, the ultimate hunter where the prey shoots back.
