someone how to age deer on the hoof? I have one called Don't Shoot Big Young Bucks that was pretty good. We're already buying more cams and I know experience is the #1 teacher.
This is for a few guys on the lease plus my wife. We need to make sure the bucks we shoot are 4 1/2 years or older.
What are some of the best references you've seen/used?Thanks in advance.

JMO, but in the field experience is the only real teacher.
Those videos/DVD's, whatever may have been filmed in Minnesota or far south Texas.
Unless they were filmed in the same general area where you hunt, and under the same type of climactic conditions the information could be and probaly will be totally different than what you are actually seeing.

Definitely field experience is where its at. Its hard to go off what some books say, my Hill Country deer just aren't built the same as south Texas deer or northern deer. Though some characteristics are the same accross the board.

Look up Mike Biggs.
His books are by far the best I've seen for aging whitetails, especially in Texas.
Also gives you something to drool over when looking at some of the bucks!

Good call completely forgot about his books, sad considering I own them. His video is good too.
