I have two leases that I'm thinking over and trying to decide which is better for me. One is in Foard County (200 acres, Wichita river frontage, 2-3 guns) and its a 5hr drive for me or Medina County (300 acres, 3 guns) and 2hrs for me. Foard County is pretty remote and I bring my camper, generator etc. Medina County is more user friendly but Im guessing more deer but lack in quality over Foard County. I've hunted for years...just trying to convince myself Foard County is worth it (lease cost is twice as much as Medina County).

In Medina it will depend on where it is at, south of 90 or north of 90. Hunting pressure around either one will be critical. Water situation in Medina will be critical for deer. If you are north of 90 in the Hills you could get some exotics in Medina.

Medina lease is south of 90 and hasn't been hunted in a few yrs. High fence on couple of sides bigger neighbor on the other. Thanks.

A lot of Medina County was day hunted back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. That really effected numbers and buck quality for many years after they stopped. Numbers will be really dependent on location again. If it is close to any of the major creeks then it could be a really great lease. The larger neighbor can help also. The farther south of 90 you go into the county the better the deer will get, but you give up numbers. Southeast part of the county is not as good as the south central or southwestern areas also. Some really good deer east, south and west of Yancey area. North of Yancey is more hit and miss. South of D'Hanis can really be good but water will be the key there. A lot of the land south of 90 is old regrowth farmland also, not the best deer habitat.

Depends where you are in foard. I had some buddy's that just got off a 200 acre lease in foard and hunted 2 seasons and never saw a deer. However I hunt and foard/cottle county line and have plenty of deer. Either way you go that's quite a few guns per acre way over what most people including my self like.

I think its 6 miles southwest of Crowell if I remember right. Owner said 200ac has part of Wichita river and main part of ranch is across the county road and its leased out. Thanks. And yes, too many guns.

I like Medina, more acres and 2 hours less drive time coming and going. Good luck!

The place my buddies hunted was surrounded by wheat fields. I'll try to find out a landowner name.

I would go with Medina County and not think twice unless it was open field or 300 acres of regrowth
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Go with Medina. That's not enough acreage to hunt 2-3 hunters on in Foard.

They had no issue walking off on them that year when things were drying up. Never found one like that in my hood, found several on that place in just a handful of trips.

Too many guns on the Foard County lease. That size place up there would only support 1 hunter. I'd go with the closer drive
