Interesting product. I won't pre -order anything again but will anxiously await some reviews.
A few concerns:
Effects of recoil on an iPhone How solid is the mount Will it hold zero
What I like:
Price Detection and recognition ranges relative to price Weight Size

The frame rate looks real low Higher frame rate costs more as do larger lenses available for the unit. Nice to see the Therm-App people developing this!

Also it says its cloud based app? Does that mean an internet connection is necessary while using the platform?

I don't think it needs the Internet to work. I read the docs several times and can't say conclusively.
One thing I did pick up on after my first post is that it is Android only. Let's me out.

That looks interesting. Prices are starting to drop. I wonder what the lag time would be

How visible is my big old head looking at a lit smartphone screen?

How visible is my big old head looking at a lit smartphone screen? They should include a black hood to wear like the old fashioned cameras used.

It is obviously a budget thermal weapon sight, if you cannot afford a $0.50 cent piece of cloth to hang over it like the old fashioned cameras had, then you need a more expensive thermal weapon scope. Plus it has the photo and video built in too!
I spend my money on dogs, hunting, racing, women, and whiskey - the rest I waste.

Uh... .50 cents wouldn't even cover tax on a 2x2 inch strip of cloth... It's 2015 Skypup - get with the times!

Use a dirty old rag and pocket the fifty cents then. You can also adjust the display brightness for free too! Imagine the fun you could have on a suppressed .22 long rifle taking out vermin at night with this! Or if your really super cheap, just take photos and videos of the hogs and save bigtime on the ammo.....

If I pocket the 50 cents , I'll have to claim it as an asset and then the IRS will get their share .
Nope I gotta spend it, maybe I'll buy a share of Blue Bell ice cream stock...
So I have to wonder why these companies don't market the thermal thing-a-mabob with a led screen and simple dedicated processor.
Why the big compulsion to use a smart phone !
Can you imagine the idiot warning that go along with the device , please do not attempt to answer calls when the system is mounted to a weapon, please do not take a selfie........

You can pick up a used android idiot phone for a song and a dance at a pawn shop and don't bother to get it hooked up to a cell carrier....or just pick up a real thermal scope at the pawn shop for a lot more coin...

That's basically what I did with the Seek IR. bought a used iPhone with a bad ESN on eBay for next to nothing. Can't wait to try it hunting.

Looks like the Vapir+ is the US version if the Therm-App that's been out for awhile, I've bee using one for the past 8 months and it's been a great spotting scope. It's great to use running-and-gunning while driving looking for game at night, you hang it out the window and you can still drive safely . I've had no issues to date and I really like the product. Reading this post I went on the Therm-app web site and they now have the 25 Hz frame rate, not sure if it's worth the extra money for the higher frame rate for a spotting scope. http://therm-app.com

It is a very high quality thermal setup for the price.

I see some potential return to zero issues.
While the concept is neat, how much more would it cost just to make a scope that has a view screen and recorder in it? There should be a sub $2K thermal scope out there with this sort of technology if the front end is sub $1K.

I for one will never pre-order any scope again. An I will just save up and spend the 4K for the tried and true

They are made in Israel, it is a very high quality product, very much unlike the X-Sight...... https://www.flickr.com/groups/therm-app-users/pool/

Put me down for two when 1000 people own them and no one is reporting issues.. You can thank ATN if you get no pre orders. This time last year I would have pre ordered two of them.

I'm not selling anything, especially some hyped up ATN gear. I checked out the X-Sight in person at the 2013 Shot Show two years ago and was not impressed, two years later I still am not impressed, but I am impressed by the awesome Therm-App gear!
