well I finally give up, asking cabelas to refund my money and I will look at the sightmark 4.6 for a replacement.
or Sachal, if you read this will atn refund me if cabelas won't? I am past the 90 day return window since I keep waiting for updates to make this scope work right.
not holding my breath. Hopalong, As someone that owns both the X-Sight and the Sightmark Photon, I can sympathize with your frustration with the X-sight, if you decide to go over to the Phonton you will not be disappointed with it's nighttime viewing, it blows away the x-sight, it's also simpler to operate, basically turn on and your ready to shoot. Daytime viewing a different story, but I didn't buy it for daytime use. I got some high-end QD mounts that return to zero and switch between my daytime scope and the Photon for nighttime use, this seem to work well for my hunting situations. Good Luck. This is good news to hear about the Sightmark, I have been grinding the net for the last few days on NV and I have come to the conclusion that there are NV guys out there that poo poo anything but gen 3 and then there are guys that feel quality gen 1's both standard and digital for hunting are just fine. I guess if I was huntin the taliban I would sell my truck and go high quality gen 3 but I am huntin pigs that after more research have learned they really aren't bothered by the glow of an IR emitter.I was excited by the claims of the X-Sight but after searching for reviews found that they jumped the gun and I don't do well with gettin the run-around. So it looks like it'll be the Sightmark, UNV is also throwing in a long range IR illuminator so that should be a deal! Debit card is waiting so here we go!

He is in Texas, I'm in New Mexico, so can't view it to see what changes there are.
He originally got a 5x, can't remember what was wrong with it, funny thing is he sent that back a few months ago, so he called and asked what's up, they shipped a replacement, but they sent a 3x, what the hell? Supposed to ship him out the 5x, but he had to show them a receipt geez. I hope he gets a refund for the difference. I sent back a 5X because the FOV was too tight for my use, and got a 3X instead. I kept the 5X and ordered the 3X, and when it arrived sent the 5X back, within the 30 day period, for a full refund.

Do your self a favor, when using IR scope with a aftermarket attached light, get yourself a Adjustable Windage & Elevation Light Mount, this will help with placement of the IR beam, it makes a big difference. below is a link to one I use that is simple to operate and not too expensive. http://www.allpredatorcalls.com/wicked-lights-w402-adjustable-windage-elevation-light-mount-only/

Thanks Eddie, was also wondering what QD mount you use, when I searched them I found one made by Sightmark actually for 80 bucks.

Do your research on the QD mounts, if your going to use the Photon an a AR platform, you need to get the scope forward as much as possible, if you use two QD mounts option you may to mount one of the rings on the hand rail and that not good practice. You may want to use the Burris AR-PEPR mount, they are around the same price as the Sightmark and have decent reviews. Also, if you get the Sightmark rings, you may have to get medium or high rings to get the photon to work. I went a little higher end on my mounts, I went with the Larue QD mount on my Glass daytime scope and the American defense QD mount for night use with the photon. little pricey for most but is works for my situation.

Any news on the eta for the next update.
Thanks.
My video under a couple questions should be working now I had it as private until i sussed how to make public. Actually getting used to using the x-sight now and if they can fix a few things it is good value for money if you are only shooting out to 150 yds at night, great day distance, you would spend as much or more putting a day and night package together that recorded video. Heres hoping the next update fixes a few things.

LOL im surprised it took this long for this to come about. here are a few questions I have. How does it take almost one year later to fix software issues? unless it is in fact a hardware issue that cannot be resolved and the company is trying to build up stock to do a mass recall. If we did not pressure them to release it early would we still be waiting today for pre-orders to release? ATN do you think you will ever be able to sell pre-orders again based on how this turned out? Is the reason some features get removed when you fix others do to limited resources being exceeded and your programmers are trying to get 10 pounds of [censored] into a 5 pound sack?
I'm a terrible shot but I follow up with a grenade!

sachal, if you happen to read this you can have atn send a check for the above amount and I will return the scope and withdraw the complaint. if no response by fri. then lets go to the races and see just how much it is going to cost atn to resolve this.

Hopalong, you oughta get the ball rollin for a class action lawsuit. I spent over 25 yrs in construction building sheds to workin on the alamodome and fiesta Texas/commercial carpenter. that being said I understand problems, delays, breakdowns etc. and there has never been a time that I did not convey the problem, expected solution and time frame (that is realistic and doable) directly to my customer or supervisor, it is the way you do things or so I thought. I checked with sachal/atn prior to buying and was assured this scope would be fixed/up and running 100% "very soon", now I believe myself to be a semi reasonable person and to me "very soon" is not 5 months or however long it will take. there have been about 5-6 updates (?) and it seems with each you lose 2 things to get part of another, this is not what I paid for or will accept as fair and equitable for my cash. after fri. (I do not expect any response from atn) it is what it is.

I would recommend removing your form or at least removing all the personal information from it.

And, once the complaint as been filed, it's in the public domain. And, as hopalong says, he's got nothing to hide and only wants a fair assessment of his concerns by a third party.

There should be a tacked warning thread listing all the problems with this scope for folks who are doing research on night vision. ATN X Sight and problems should be listed in the title and repeated several times in the thread so they show up in search engines.

im surprised ATN is still cranking them out. why have they not put them on hold no further sales until the issues are resolved? Because there are a bunch of fanboys in the X-Sight Owners Facebook group telling them how good it is. I'm sorry, but breaking sound in an update and not fixing it for over two months is just plain old incompetence. Honestly, I'll be surprised if they ever get this thing 100% working as it was advertised.

I have already been contacted by others on here telling me they too have filed complaints so looks like this will go class action when the ag picks it up.
I have no doubt atn will regret this and the way they treat customers.

A firmware update is being testing. Should be releasing in the next couple of days. Posted on 5/28/15. We've had one poster say that a friend of his received a new scope with a newer updated firmware. Sachal, if you are bothering to visit this thread any longer. Is it possible that the auto-dim could calibrate off of an area around the center of the cross hairs, rather than the entire sensor? +&- values above and below, to the right and left of center of the cross hairs. Where is the official site that ATN announces new firmware? If it's Facebook, I'm SOL, because I don't use it. However, I may start, so that I can voice my opinions there.... Is the warranty return period 30 days or 90? I'm past 30, but well within 90. A Pulsar Apex HD50A is looking mighty tempting, if the wife doesn't kill me....
God Bless
