I would say that it depends on how much you are going to use it. I have a cpl food savers and they are ok at best. I am going to look at commercial sealers in the near future.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

I think mine was a Food Saver. I took it to the women's center.

I have the Food Saver-Game Saver. It does pretty good, it just needs a bit more suction power. I had to mount a fan to it to cool it down because it would overheat when doing a few deer. It will go all day now. I will get a commercial one next time. So I will watch this thread for ideas.

I have the Silver Food Saver and it does good on smaller/softer stuff but yes lacks the horsepower that I often need for some of the meats that I process. I bought the Weston Pro 2300 Commercial grade and it's definitely a step up with the dual pistons and fan cooled motor, sucks harder & no more overheating stopping production during processing. I still wish it had more suction though, I'm kinda anal about air in the bag.

If you don't mind dropping some cash for a really good commercial unit, look into a MiniPack Torre. We had a butcher shop for several years, and used one of these daily. It's a great vacuum sealer. There's a place in San Antonio that sells them, and also Davidson's Butcher Supply out of California.
