I've been all over this morning and haven't seen one yet...maybe they've been satisfied just to know they can.

Funny thing about getting older:
Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.

Yeah, thought was a can of Skoal in her left pocket, but looking closer...I think not.

Just got back from my foray into town. My Wife, my Daughter and I went out to dinner.

Stopped by the ATM to get some cash, then on to the Gas Station to fill up. Then went to Clear Springs (Nacogdoches), pretty good crowd there. Stood in line for a few minutes before being seated, a fair number of folks behind us.

Got up to go the Men’s Room once, had dinner. Left and stopped by Walmart to pick up a few items.

Result:

Either folks are unobservant, or don’t care if I carry openly.

I am going with ‘unobservant’….at this juncture, since I was wearing my BUG gun (SOB).

Had I been carrying my primary weapon (Stainless P-13 double stack 45) in my horizontal shoulder rig, I am certain it would have been noticed. I will try that in the near future and see what the reaction is.

My BUG:

Saw one in Weatherford today....likely the same gene pool as the previously posted Walmart customer.

I saw my first open carry at Kroger today. Strangely, he had the exact same pistol I was carrying (Sig Ultra Compact .45); his was out and shining with a stainless slide and mine was concealed and comfortable with a Nitride slide. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. He did appear to be gawking around to see who noticed; and I just went about normal activities. Proof again that I will continue to keep my business to myself. I prefer to not draw anyone's attention.

That should NOT be legal. And I'm not talking about the gun.

Yea I was trying to be funny, but she could be the poster child for the opisition. Unfortunately common sense is no longer common.

Guess I need to look it up but thought there was a requirement for the firearm to be in a holster. Either way I agree, that ain't right.

Worked in south Dallas all day yesterday, including going to Wal-mart, w/no sightings. Been in town here for a couple hours going to stores, no sightings. Much to-do over nothing.

Did you want someone to point and say "Oh look! You have a gun." If you carry to get a reaction, then you carry for the wrong reason.

How many people tried to grab the gun out of his holster? I'm guessing zero.

I'm all for open carry - I grew up with it in small town rural areas where it was normal. Rarely saw it in the city.

Folks who choose to openly carry in an urban environment are generally either making a statement, or looking for attention - and that is most certainly their right as an American! By the same token, they need to remember that it is obvious that most people recognize it as attention seeking behavior - in an urban environment.

Go for it if you wish, but don't get all butt chapped if you get unwanted attention.......

Marc

It's pretty much a sign of having the "Hey, look at me I'm a bad*** syndrome."

There are a sizeable number of folks who are infatuated with guns - mostly younger urban types who didn't grow up with them and see them as some sort of power symbol - they are compensating IMO. I can't define it but I know it when I see it. It goes beyond OC...

Head over to arfcom. Theres a bunch of the operators just like you described that are posting their OC experiences. They have no need to OC but are doing it just because they can and its funny how it seems like they want people to notice them OCing.
