My boy dropped his biggest buck and his biggest boar last year. I promised him they would both be on the wall, and so it begins....

Think I'll bleach the scull a little more, seal it all up, then we are going together to pick out a nice piece of mesquite to slice/maybe sand/and seal. Get it put together and on the wall. Next is to do his biggest boar, it will live right next to his buck. I've taught my kids to shoot pigs in the head, so he smacked his boar in the forehead with a 243 at 100 yrds with night vision. Curious to see if the skull is blown up too bad, it felt OK with the skin on. Was a big boar so should be alright and the bullet hole in the skull will be cool to talk about if I don't screw it up. More pics to come.....

How big of a piece of mesquite you looking for. I am going to my folks in 2 weeks and there neighbor has a saw mill. My dad goes by and picks up all the scrap wood a tinkers with it in his garage. Might be able to bring some back if you need it.

Man, thanks that's a generous offer. Not looking for a huge piece just big enough to look decent behind the skull. I've got a couple more to do after this one. I've got some big mesquite logs down at the ranch and was gonna just slice on those with my chainsaw. I haven't been able to get down there lately though....was hoping to leave the bark on if possible.

I am going the weekend of the 20th. I will see what he has, he is a custom home builder and has the most incredible metal and wood shop at his house that you could imagine. He makes custom mantles and furniture, so I will see what he has laying around. He usually has all kinds of wood such as live oak, pecan, red cedar, and walnut if you want me to look for some of that. I should be able to bring some different kinds back

Don't go through any trouble for me please, but if you wanna bring some back that'd be great. I was actually thinking about using a piece of mesquite from the same place where my son shot his buck, but I don't care about what wood I use on the other mounts. Thanks again sir.

Nice work

You have alot of coolers

You ever use your back scratcher to smear onion juice on a grill anymore?
