You can turn the microphone off...but you can also turn it on. If you like no audio, YOU can turn the microphone off. Those who want audio have to deal with a smoke-and-mirrors menu routine that says "ON," but does nothing. You liking it doesn't squash the bug for those who expect this to work. Thanks for the info, you'd think that I would've known that since this is my second X sight. The loss of audio hasn't diminished my scope to paperweight status. I think that's a bit harsh, but that's just me. ATN seems to be trying to fix the issues in a faster manner, but Obviously not fast enough for the American market. I'm going to load the 266 later today and sight it in tomorrow.

Price great, Day scope great, record video great, NV load of cobblers. Need to bring 720p back it was good nv on that. Has fantastic potential and a fantastic price but until they get the nv hooked up right its a paperweight. Just my opinion but roadkill has pretty much said the same thing having had the original prototype to compare it to. Should knock a XT into a cocked hat, doesn't. Prob works ok for you guys as hogs are pretty big try scoping rabbits when they move about at 100 yds it don't work too well.

Just updated to this firmware. I was hoping to go out and zero this on my 45acp bolt action rifle and get some cool video of the bullet in flight to the target (maybe). Anyway I was searching for what settings work the best for day and night video recording. Any help would be appreciated.

well updated to the .266 and so far so much better. just sighted in at about 100 yds. (probably more, no range finder) and this is the best my 5-18 has worked. got pictures, got video, got 5 rounds within a 2" or so group. sighted in with a rest on our sign, nothing else to steady in the wind, used my previous numbers and was at least on paper then just a few more to get it right. center is my windham vex/5.56 m855's. others are one of our members 300 blkout/suppressed. from the sight.

Never had any issues with installing the firmware before. Got the .266 loaded. It re-booted three times and each time wanted to install the new firmware. Did the hard boot and removed the SD card. Restarted it and it continued with the configuration. Problem is now it does the config and wifi every time I turn on the sight. Tried to return to the factory settings with no luck. Still showing the .266. I must have screwed something up. Will fool with it some more today.

Restoring factory settings will not reinstall a previous firmware.

I updated my 5X and a buds 5X Friday afternoon to v.266 On my Ar-10 I removed the shims and resighted the 20" .308 Groups were much better with no shims however my reticle is very low and a fair piece left of center. When I zoomed the reticle traveled off the screen about halfway through from none to full zoom. In NV mode there was no flicker and I had good contrast and clarity. My buds scope I mounted to an AR-15 in .223/5.56, 16" barrel. After getting very close at 30 yards I moved to 100 yards. Fired two rounds which were touching each other. Did the zero function and fired two more and hit dead center and overlapping and called it good. His reticle was centered very well upon mounting so he doesn't have reticle walk off. I tried the reticle walk in the scopes reticle mode and center mode or whatever the second option is and it still travels off the screen. I'll post the vid in a day or three.
Cheers

It seems weird that all the scopes react a little differently to software. My 3x set to reticle the crosshair moves to center on zoom . Set to center it's centered all the time no matter the zoom level. On initial shooting at 0 0 it's 1ft left and 3ft low.

got both our 5x units running on 266 now. got one on the rimmy and one on my 30ftp rapid .im wanting to put mine on my 223 but won't be doing that 'til the units sorted. i dont fancy zeroing the unit time after time wasting good ammunition. dont get me wrong i think for the monney this unit's going to take some beating. i didnt' get to test the unit in night mode much as my mates ir was acting up but from what i saw in night mode it didn't look bad at all. but i want to do some more testing as soon as i can get back out but the weather is bad. Is there anybody that's got some footage in night mode with the 226 installed.
ATN if you are watching, are there any updates on the sound?

I bought an ATN x-sight 3x and downloaded the .266 firmware recently. That brought me to this site to know more about the scope. I read most of the posts about x-sight on here and learn a lot from you guys. But it looks like there isn't much information about the duplex reticles. Yesterday I did some test and calculation to my 3x scope. Below are my findings. 1. When set the scope to it's native 3x, the duplex reticle is total 16"x16" @ 10 yards and total thin section is 4"x4" @ 10 yards. Converting to pixels is 120x120 pixels for the thin section. Also, the thickness of the thick line is 4 pixels. 2. The image is 1920x1080 pixels, so the field of view at 3x is roughly 10.2x5.7 degree. That means 5.3'x3' @ 10 yards or 53'x30' @ 100 yards. 3. When zeroing @ 3x, the x axis has a range of -718 to 718 pixels and y axis has a range of -300 to 300 pixels. I know that it's smaller than the total field of view of 1920x1080 pixels. 4. If anyone want to use the thin section of the duplex reticle for bullet drop compensation. That's 20 moa from center to beginning of the thick line.

OK, for anyone who want to know the 3x's FOV (field of view), it's 53 Ft by 30 Ft @ 100 yards.
And if anyone want to know the size of those reticles, it's all in there either by moa, inch @ distance, or pixel size.
Also, I found the video output only @ 15 fps (frame per second).

if your right then the go pro hero 3 black edition does the same thing. that records at 15fps and they say the most striking high definition frame rate is in 720p mode if thats the case why did they remove it from this unit .

Also, I found the video output only @ 15 fps (frame per second). How did you determine this? Is the file properties indicating it or your editing program or did you use special equipment? Thanks

Yes, it shows framerate of 14.99 in my video editing software. Actually, you can right click your original video file, in the properties---> details, you can see the frame rate. To confirm that, I even count the frames with "frame by frame".

To confirm that, I even count the frames with "frame by frame". Im running a MAC, in Quicktime I open a file from the Xsight I choose ----> Window -----> Show Movie Inspector The information window comes up and displays the following: Data Rate = 6.41 Mbits/sec FPS = 29.97 So there is something up with your setup - try a different SD card that is at least Class 10. Report back and welcome to the circus

I am running windows 8.1. I used Samsung 32GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDHC that I bought just 2 weeks ago. To rule out the SDHC, I tried another SD card today. The new movie file has a data rate of 6.19Mbps and frame rate of 14fps.
There is some "fake" 30 fps files which show same image twice. To rule out those file, the best way is to run the video frame by frame and count how many distinct frames in one second.
Also, I want to mention that every time I record a video, I will have two files in my card. One 1920x1080 and another 432x240. Both are 14fps. Is that normal?
I hope more people who updated their firmware to .266 can try their video.

yes i have been geting this from day one, films every thing twice. using my unit on 266 last night this is what i got in night mode. looking at a tree at 130yds the unit with the ir on it was doing this. first it was a dark image i was able to count 123456. slowly before the unit got bright and got to its true potential and gave a very good image. if it gave that image from the start and had sound then i would say im very happy with it. and wouldnt need anything else.

The double video capture is normal on this unit. It is saving a low res. version for playback on lesser powered units.

Word on the street over here is that new reticles are not far off. Mil dots etc. no idea when exactly but hopefully not long.

Did anyone try to add a tele-side converter to their 3x? No doublers have been attempted that I know of, I don't think it'd be a good idea using the sunshade threads. There is plenty of magnification with the 5x version in daytime for long distance shots. The doubler would hinder night time performance so not sure you'd benefit from increased magnification from a range perspective.

I thought if doubler work for 3x, I'll have both 3x and 5x with just a easy change of lens. The 3x front lens thread looks like standard 43.5mm x 0.75mm camera lens thread. I just purchased some step-up rings and a cheap tele-converter. Work or not, I'll report back.
