Anybody used the rear sight scope mount with a LER scope? If so, how'd it work out? Where did you get the parts?

Ive messed with a couple of these M44s and I prefer that rear sight mount. It's not the prettiest, but it works well. If you use the more standard over the bolt mount, I wold have your bolt handle bent or welded rather than try to tap it and crew the handle on.

I did a scout mount on my M-44 and it worked very well, but took it off. I've been carring the rifle on my 4wheeler alot lately, I didnt think that scope setup could handle the jarring from the handle bar gun rack.

Years ago, I took a Swedish Mauser to the gunsmith at Ewell Cross (now Elk Castle) in Fort Worth. He removed the rear sight, drilled barrel for base, and modified bottom contour of a one piece Contender base. I put a Leupold scout scope on it and it still shoots great. Very durable set-up. I have since read that you should never drill the barrel for scope mounting, but mine works great. Don't know why this wouldn't work on your rifle.

God is so good to me.
